My name is Raven and I am a full-time writer. I work with several clients, but most notably, I work for an AI data training company and a creative ghostwriting organization. I have over a year of professional writing experience and work with a variety of styles like analytical writing, SEO writing, creative writing, and more. I am also over halfway done with my English bachelor's degree.

On Wattpad, you might recognize me from my hits like Adrift, My Bad Boy, Heartbeat, ITDOW, Like Crazy, and Psycho, or you might recognize me as the woman who over-explains in her review book. I got into writing because of my father, who is also a writer who studied English in college.

With all that being said, I want to put a disclaimer. I am not God. Despite my experience, I am young and still learning about the English world. This book is meant to help people not make the same mistakes I did.

Not everything in this book will work for everyone. I'm not saying this is the word of God and you should follow it. Actually, I'd recommend you don't do that.

Every writing rule has exceptions. Although there are more objective sides of writing, like the grammar and spelling, the subjective side is harder to put strict rules on because it depends on the book, the writing style, and the author.

The point is, this book is meant to help people. I'm not interested in arguing over small things like exceptions and English rules because this disclaimer is here to acknowledge that.

So yeah, don't argue with me. If you think I'm wrong, that's fine. Don't listen to me if you don't want to; I'm not saying you should. Listen to what works for you. If you read 100 tips by me and think only one works for you, then use that one instead of forcing yourself to use the other 99 as well. Do what you think will make you a better writer.

This book will have spelling and grammar errors. While I do edit my work, I'm just one person, and sometimes mistakes slip through the editing process. It happens all the time to everyone, regardless of experience. This is supposed to be a fun book, so I don't want to spend hours upon hours editing it like I would one of my novels. I also don't want to come off as over-the-top. For those reasons, expect spelling/grammar errors here and there.

Lastly, I don't want to come off as preachy. Like I said, I make mistakes, I'm not perfect, and I'm not better than anyone else because of my experience. I want to make it clear: I am not God. Just because I'm experienced doesn't mean you should listen to me. This book isn't meant to be me preaching or lecturing at you. I want this to be a learning experience for everyone, including me. A few years from now, I might look back and disagree with everything I wrote in this book. That's how writing works. We learn as we grow, and there's nothing wrong with that.

There's nothing wrong with being wrong. So please know I'm not trying to be some teacher or professor lecturing you. My goal is to share the mistakes I made as a growing writer, and also talk about some writing-related topics that interest me. Think of this as a commentary book rather than an educational one. I hope my advice works for you, but it might not, and that's okay.

Okay, that was a long disclaimer, but I'm sure you can understand why. I'm not getting into arguments. I'm just going to explain some common writing errors in basic ways. I will cover the more advanced parts of them later, so please don't come in here saying "Well actually you can also do insert smth here." I'll probably cover that topic later. There is so much that goes into writing, it's impossible to cover it in a single chapter.

I will cover everything writing, including the more creative side like characters and themes.
