ONE - "JUST FRIENDS."
"Danny turn the music down!"
"She's gonna come in here-"
"S'okay." Danny mumbled and returned to his best friends lips, pulling her leg flush around his body. "She won't."
"Dan we shouldn't be doing this anyway."
"Doesn't feel wrong though huh?" He pulled away, staring into her eyes, knowing in every molecule of him that Lydia would never say no, not to him, not to this.
"I mean, no, but-"
"It's just kissing L. If you wanna stop-"
"Fine!" She was desperate, her lips fumbled for words as she pulled at his collar, drawing him in closer and closer. "But just a little more?"
"Knew it." He smirked and pushed her further into the bed. "Just a little more."
If the two best friends had ever been asked how things had came to be with them they'd never have been able to answer. They wouldn't have been able to explain why they spent most nights cradled in one another's beds, how for the last week they'd tried their hardest to stay away from each another but had always ended up interlocked at the lips once more, how Danny had kissed his best friend on the stormiest night of the year and things hadn't returned to normal since.
As cliche as it was, it was wrong, it was oh so wrong, but it didn't feel that way, it was right, it was electric, it ignited every part of them both, the running around, the hiding, the fumbling in the dark, it was all so terrifying, but all so right at the same time.
The pair simply could've given in the moment they kissed, decided to be a couple and spent their nights in one another's beds without a worry on their minds, but they were both far too stubborn for that, far too damaged for another relationship, and far too close to lose one another.
The trouble had started so many moons ago, three years ago to be exact, when Danny had given the new student a pen in English class, his soon to be best friend. After that one dooming gesture, they were inseparable. FaceTime calls became second nature, making each other playlists was a familiarity, and each others houses became home. They were family, their own fucked up version of it, joint at the heart and the hip.
And now, the lips.
And it was all Danny's fault, how it all happened, their first kiss. It was just a week earlier, dancing in his bedroom to one of his many vinyls as he pretended to DJ for the only girl in his life. Lyds had always found laughter in utterly everything Danny did and that night had been no exception at all.
