I fell in complete, utter shock. I couldn't believe what just happened.
I cried at the pain in my right foot and I winced as I tried to move it.
I was doing a spin sequence and I fell terribly on my right foot.
" oh my god Grace!" cried Shannon as she rushed over to where I was.
My dance teacher was calling my mom and the paramedics. She didn't want to take any chances of ignoring a serious injury.
Everyone gathered around me, trying to make me smile and laugh like they always do.
Shannon, being by my side at all times held my hand and told me not to worry.
I couldn't help but notice the way Michael looked at Shannon. He was deeply in love with her.
I would tell Shannon, but I'm sure she would get angry with me. She told me she couldn't have anything affect her Oireachtas season. I guess I'll have to wait, I thought.
My mom soon enough arrived and she told me everything would be okay. The paramedics came and helped me onto those rolling mat things.
After about 4 hours I woke up in a hospital bed. There were get well soon balloons hung up everywhere. There were teddy bears by my bedside and food too. I was hooked up to all this wired machine and my foot, was in a dark purple cast that rode up all the way to my upper shin on my right leg.
" Oh honey I'm so glad your awake," my mom said as she kissed me on my forehead.
" What happened? How long until I can dance again," I asked worried and confused.
" Well after you fell at dance, you were taken to the hospital. The injury was severe, so the doctors took your foot right into surgery. You fractured your navicular in two places honey. You won't be able to dance for 2 months. It'll take lots of time to heal sweetie. I'm so sorry," she said sympathetically as she held my hand.
" I'll go tell Shannon your awake," she said as she exited out of the room with a sad look painted on her face.
Not dancing? For two months?!
I'll barely be good enough for Oireachtas now. I probably won't even world qualify, or heck even get the recall. It's gonna take me forever to get back dancing at the point I am, or was.I started to cry, again. I wasn't crying cause I hurt my foot, but because I wouldn't be able to dance for so long.
I am so frustrated with myself."Grace! I'm so happy your awake," she said with a smile. But once she saw I was crying, her face changed to a sad look.
" I'm so sorry Grace," was all Shannon could say.
"It's not your fault I fell like the clumsy person I am." I said with a blank expression as I played with the wires hooked onto the machine.
"At least the cast is coming off before Oireachtas, so you can still dance. Grace you can get through this, I know you can. You helped me when I broke my foot last year and I would help you through this in a heart beat. Your my best friend, and I'll always be here for you." She said as she held my hand.
Now she made me cry. But not sad tears, tears of joy.
" Your the best," I said to her.
" Now, wipe those tears away and lemme sign this cast and decorate it," she said, not even jokingly.
