I was so nervous. My heart was pounding. I wonder if Michael could hear...
I know that he was about to ask me out. I just didn't know how he would say it.
Would it be straight forward? A long speech of him talking about how much he likes me, and then the question? Would he even ask me?My thoughts were interrupted by my mom's voice.
"Shan, it's time to go,"
Are you kidding me?? Really?
"Hold on mom," I signaled to her, turning back and facing Michael.
"No, no it's fine. It can wait, really." Assured Michael.
"Ok.." I said turning away to my mom.
But as I turned, Michael turned me around and gave me a hug.
I hugged him back, confused. Why would he be giving me a hug?
He gives really good hugs though...besides the point. Why would he give me a hug now?
I smiled, and said goodbye as my mom and I walked to the car."So when is Michael going to ask you to be his girlfriend already?" Questioned my mom as she started up the car.
"Maybe if we didn't have any interruptions we would be dating by now? I don't know, I don't even know if he likes me even." I said as I played with my headphone wire.
"Oh come on. The way he looks at you, the way he acts around you, that hug?! He's totally into you honey." Said my mom.
I can't believe I'm actually having this talk with my mom.
"I hope so," I said as I yawned and closed my eyes.
*A few weeks later*
"PICK IT UP IN THE BACK KAITLYN!" Yelled my TC as everyone did their softshoe dance full out. Tonight's class was extra tough. I could fell the blood from my blisters bleeding through my socks. It felt like forever until she finally announced that we could get a water break.
I was sitting down with my friends as Michael walked by us and gave me a smile.
"He sooooo likes you," cooed Christine as she gave me a smirk.
"I ship it so hard! Shaecal!!"
"Shaecal is the perfect ship name!""Would you guys keep it down?! He's not deaf ya know!!" I said as I signaled over to Michael as he was practicing a rhythm section in his set.
"But I do like the ship name," I said while laughing. We were all interrupted in laughs as Grace walked in the door...with no cast!!!
"GRACE!!" We all cheered as we attacked her with millions of hugs.
"I can dance now, but not full out dancing. The doctor says I have to ease into it first before going in full speed," Grace said, mostly to our dance teacher.
I gave Grace a huge hug. I'm so happy for her.
For the rest of class we did all of our full dances and did some drills (not Grace). Grace danced through her steps but not full out. Her dancing was still amazing, it's like she never even got injured!
Michael and I made eye contact from across the room. He smiled.Michael and I didn't talk. At all tonight, or for the past week. He smiles and blushes and looks at me but that's really it. I can't help but wonder if he's mad at me? I don't know. I should probably confront him. No, I'll be casual.
I approached Michael and sat down next to him.
"Hey," I said sitting down, "Are you okay?"
"Never better. Why?" He asked.
"I don't know, you just don't seem like yourself. You haven't even spoken a word to me since last week."
"I know. And I'm sorry."
"Well why haven't you been talking?"
"I've just been thinking a lot and I have so many things on my mind right now ok." He snapped.
"What have you been thinking about that's been bothering you so much then?"
"It's not really any of your business," he snapped again.
"Sorry for asking about someone I really care about then." I said, on the verge of tears as I stood up and walked away to the other side.
"Shannon wait-," He said.
