Over the weekend Lena was running patrols with Embry and Jacob to try to take her mind off things. She had been confused whether she wanted to see Jasper and actually hear him out or not. Bella still wouldn't even look at her in school which left Lena sleeping in her car. Embry and Jacob offered their homes but both options felt wrong. Embry was still under the delusion that he had imprinted on her and Jacob was Bella's friend.
Lena trotted in between the two when she came across a familiar scent that had her tearing through the woods. Victoria was back. Sam wanted them to wait but Lena wasn't having it. She caught a glimpse of the red headed vampire running away. Victoria danced over the treaty line and only Lena could follow then. There was a brief moment where Victoria had turned and lunged at Lena, her teeth bared. But then they weren't alone. Jasper was at Lena's side in an instant which made Victoria turn and run again. The rest of the Cullens caught up to them just as Victoria crossed back over the treaty line and again Lena could be the only one to follow as she had no boundaries. She met with Sam and the rest oft the pack as Victoria ran right along the line. Thats when things got a little out of hand. Emmett made a lunge for her but Victoria dodged it effortlessly which sent him nearly tumbling into Paul. Being the hot head he was sprang at Emmett. Lena body checked Paul and snapped her jaws at him. She was sure Paul would lose it on her again. Paul hated Lena. Said she was basically a leech and she shouldn't be allowed to run with the pack. Lena wasn't exactly surprised at Rosalie backing her up as she was territorial over Emmett. A wave of calm settled over her and she looked to Jasper. He didn't usually use his powers on her but the situation called for it. Carlisle tried to mitigate the situation but Lena knew Sam would be unbending especially when Jasper and Emmett asked for permission to cross to follow Victoria. Lena considered going on her own but decided it was probably a bad idea considering Victoria had already tried to end her once that night. She hung back after the pack was leaving and looked at the vampires she had considered a second family. Esme had stepped forward just as Sam turned around and was expecting her to come with them. Lena's ears drew back as she looked at the Cullens again before she followed Sam. "Should've just left her with her precious leeches." Paul thought. "You know what Paul if it wasn't for you we could've had the real enemy." Embry defended. Lena just shook her head and kept going.
Later on in her car Lena had Jasper's note in her lap. She thought about how he came out of nowhere that night and would've risked his life to protect her if Victoria hadn't turned and ran.
