Dedicated to the ghosts I'll never reunite

I know why you haunt me, do I haunt you as well? Maybe I'll be free one day. I'm sorry for what I did. Is this guilt even real? Do we still laugh together in your dreams? I just wish I knew whether or not you are okay. You would have liked these words, at least I think you would have. Please be okay, please keep going on for those who still love you.

The ceiling rippled like waves above. Her eyes spun in the infinite depths of this new found ocean. She could feel everything, yet nothing at all. So enchanted by the waves on her drywall she could not even notice the new found fear growing in her chest. She could see dolphins playing in water around her ceiling fan, jumping between the spinning blades. She giggled a little, wondering why she had never noticed them before. What was it she was worried about again? The memory's intensity prickled against her skin, almost enough to be discomforting. It was almost like the soft feeling you get when remembering being born.

Her attention was soon stolen by the sound of something ringing. Not a loud ringing like a church bell, but certainly not soft either. It was not harsh, not high pitched like the cry of a violin. Just a soft back and forth game of catch in her ears. Sitting up to investigate the new addition to her ocean, she noticed the walls and ceiling were gone. Replaced by the darkness of calm water. Looking up she saw the after shock of the rain hitting the surface of the water.

The fear in her chest throbbed, a second heart beating within. This was not how she expected her night to go. The prickling on her skin pierced through the skin like needles, she finally remembered. The moments she cherished returned, the people she loved smiled back at her, the taste of blood oozed in her mouth. This was not right, this was not what was expected.

Her fingers dug into her skull, tearing at the skin for answers. A black fog drifted into the ocean, slowly covering all light.
