"Boss, I think we've got company.", Uriah said as he ran into the room, just as I finished bandaging Xavi's palms.
"Shit.", I mumbled to myself, getting up and getting my revolver out of my belt, running out of the room with Uriah so we could neutralize the threat. Three men descended the stairs and looked at us in shock. They had only managed to pull out their weapons before they were shot by Uriah and I.
A few more men descended the stairs when they heard the noise, but they came prepared with their weapons in hand. The lunged at us, but fortunately for us, their only weapons were swords and daggers, which was practically nothing against two revolvers. We managed to shoot all of them down, leaving them to bleed out on the floor.
I told Uriah to keep watch while I went to get Xavi and Amir.
I ran into the room where the two were still patiently waiting. "Let's go. There might be more people coming and we have to leave before they do.", I urged, helping both of them up. I gave a dagger to Amir since he did have one healthy hand.
Uriah was waiting at the bottom of the stairs in case anyone came in. "I don't hear anyone. I think we got them all.", he said and I nodded in response. We all carefully climbed up the stairs, feeling very aware of our surroundings.
We managed to get out of the house without anyone intervening and Uriah and I helped Xavi and Amir onto our horses before we rode back to the Sanctuary. The Tavern was completely empty when we came back and I think I could hear the two sighing in relief. Uriah went up to our apartment to get the men some clean clothes while I led them down to Xavi's examination room.
Xavi sat down at his desk, Amir on one of the tables. "Layla, can you get me a remedy from the shelf, please.", Xavi asked and I immediately nodded, going over and pointing to one of the remedies. Xavi nodded and I brought it over to him, opening it and placing it to his lips. He drank a few gulps before taking off his make-shift bandages, watching as his skin reconnected and healed.
He took a deep breath before getting up and going to Amir, gently taking off his sling- my coat- and helping him take off his shirt. "Can I help?", I asked and Xavi looked at me for a second before nodding.
"There, on my desk, should be an open recipe for a painkiller and sedative. All the ingredients are labeled and on the shelves. Can you make the painkiller?", he asked and I nodded, going over to his desk and looking at the ingredients. I gathered all of them while he placed Amir's shoulder back in place.
Once I had combined all the ingredients and put them in a vial, I went over to the two before giving the vial to Xavi. He sniffed it, making sure it's right before giving it to Amir. "Don't drink a lot. It's strong.", he warned and Amir nodded in response. "You should work as a doctor instead of the twins. They can't even follow the simplest of instructions.", Xavi joked as he looked at the vial again. I chuckled in response.
"Can I sleep in my own bed, I don't like sleeping here?", Amir groggily asked, high on the painkiller. Xavi laughed and nodded.
"Help me carry him up.", he told me and we both helped Amir off the exam table, taking him up to his room and placing him on his bed. We both sighed as we left Amir's room.
"Let's go to the common room.", I said to Xavi and he nodded, following me down the stairs and into the common room. "What happened?", I asked as soon as we both sat down.
"To be quite frank, I don't really know either. One moment, Amir and I were out getting the ingredients we needed and the next, we were jumped by half a dozen guys. They chloroformed us! I don't know how or why, but they did.", Xavi explained, seeming confused at the interaction.
