Andy decided that the four of us would meet in my work rook since it was quiet and far enough from Layla.

I had warned Amir and Uriah about everything Andy said and might say today. In secret, we agreed we'd put off all his plans and that we'd protect Layla, no matter what we had to do.

"Did you get the belladonna?", Andy asked and I shook my head with a fake sad expression on my face.

"It's much harder to get than I expected it to be.", I lied.

He hummed. "We'll have to think of some other way, then. Where are Amir and Uriah? I told them to be here at six.", Andy said, looking at his watch.

"They like coming in at the last minute.", I explained and he furrowed his brows. Finally, Amir and Uriah came in, stoic expressions on their faces though I know they hated this as much as I did.

"Finally.", Andy mumbled.

"Why'd you need us?", Uriah asked.

"I wanted to talk to you guys about something. Remember when the four of us were younger and we always dreamed of being the leaders?", he asked and the two nodded. "Well, we can't do that while Layla's in charge, so we have to find a way to rid her of her leadership. Would you help Xavi and I overthrow Layla? ", he asked and I could see a moment of hesitation on their faces.

"Fuck yeah!", Amir said with an awkward chuckle. "I cannot stand her as the leader. But, I mean, it was just a matter of time that someone removed her from the spot.", he said and I knew it pained him to say that.

"Yeah, exactly. And now we have a good reason to do it.", Uriah chimed in.

"Exactly!", Andy spoke happily. "It'll be so much easier with your guys' help.", he said. "We just have to find a good way to do it. Any ideas?"

I was out at the apothecary, looking for a mage I knew would help me.

"Miss Hollie?", I called out. "Are you in here?", I yelled and she emerged from the backroom.

"What do you want?", she asked roughly. That woman hated my guts for a reason I didn't know, but she made a lot of money off of me, so I knew she'd help me.

"Well, good day to you, too, miss Hollie.", I mumbled, following her to the counter.

"What do you want?", she asked again and I chuckled.

"Miss Hollie, how do omens work?", I asked and her eyes widened in surprise at my question.

"What do you mean 'How does it work'?", she asked, narrowing her eyes at me.

"Well, what does an omen do. What is it?", I questioned.

"An omen is anything of prophetic significance. Ravens are usually thought to be bad omens. Black cats crossing the street. Ghosts.", she explained.

"Can an object be an omen?", I asked and she shook her head.

"It can be a charm, but not an omen. Omens are usually events. Objects can also be ill wishes, but those are better not to mess with.", she spoke and I nodded, thinking about what she'd said.

"And tokens? What about tokens?", I urged.

"Well, tokens can be both good and bad. If used properly, they can be very powerful.", miss Hollie replied.

"More powerful than an ill wish or a bad omen?", I asked and she nodded.

"Much, much more powerful.", she said.
