Mutants in New York

I raise an eyebrow, my eyes darting between each of the turtles.

The first one to speak is the red one, his charming, toothy smile offering a sense of friendliness. "Hello, we have... come to your... humble abode to ask for... some assistance!" He kept glancing down at his palm, obviously reading stuff off of it.

I giggle a bit and wave at him. "Nice speech skills, red. I think you might wanna do a better job at concealing your materials, though."

He just gives me a dumbfounded, wide-eyed look and then laughs quietly. I motion to the rest of them to come inside the room.

"You sure you want us to just barge in like this?" The blue one pauses, moving his hands around his face and body. "I mean, you aren't weirded out by all of this?"

"Trust me, I've met like five other mutants in the past few days." I reply. My eyes move around to look past them, watching for anything suspicious. "But believe me, you probably want to get inside. Now."

They give me confused glances before hopping into the room. I swiftly slam the door shut and lock it, closing the curtains with a forceful tug. The orange turtle is visibly nervous, shaking and giving his brothers concerned looks. Noticing, I go over to him and offer a high-five.

"Hey, sorry if I'm acting a bit strange. But there are some people watching me that are after you guys." I smile. He finally gives in and joins my high-five.

This time, the purple one perks his head up. "Watching us?"

I nod, politely offering them a spot on the bed to sit. The purple one declines, muttering about how nasty hotels are.

"Long story short, I was kidnapped by this mutant snake dude. Not gonna lie, he was pretty darn good looking. Y'know, for a mutant snake." I nervously look anywhere but the turtles, not sure if they'd share my sense of humor. "Anyways, he kinda captured me. Then this dude dressed in a full-on samurai suit busted through the wall, but for some reason he let me go. Like, he didn't even question me or anything! But when I was exiting the building, I overheard him explaining that his men were going to be waiting for you guys when you came to visit me."

They were all eagerly watching me, interested in these strange events. A look of concern washed over the red one's face. "You're not safe, especially on your own. If these guys are really following you, you'd better have us around for safety reasons." His opinion was seconded by the blue one.

"Hold on, not to be rude or anything, but could I at least get to know your names?" I ask softly. It was still kind of odd for giant turtles to be hanging out in my hotel room.

The blue one facepalmed himself and stood up, sliding his swords into their sheath. He groaned and exclaimed "Guys, how did we forget to introduce ourselves?"

I hold back a laugh at his behavior, but then he suddenly gets really close and puts on a charming smile. My cheeks can't help but start to blush when he takes my hand and places a kiss on it, speaking in a low tone. "Leonardo, at your service."

The others are practically fuming with disapproval and he is quickly dragged back by the red-masked one. "Sorry about Leo. He's just kind of like that. By the way, I'm Raph. Technically I'm the leader here." He shoots another warm grin at me, and I return it.

Next, the orange one jumps up on the bed and does a trick with his nunchucks. Using one of them, he grabs a snack from the basket that was left by the room service. Flinging it over to me, I catch it in the air and give him a confused look. "Yo! I'm Mikey! The coolest one on the team!" After he accidentally hits himself in the head, he returns to his sitting position.

I smirk at Mikey and move my eyes to get a better look at the last one. His purple bandana glistens in the light, looking like a very beautiful shade of violet.

Wait a minute...

His purple bandana.

"Wait- no way!" I exclaim. They all look over at me, giving me confused expressions. "That would make sense though... You guys are ninjas or something, right? Because I saw you have these cool weapons and the masks and everything. Plus the way you were balancing on that balcony, it's obvious you've had training."

Raph nods and crosses his arms.

I walk over to the purple turtle, pulling him into a hug. His eyes dart around, not sure what to do, and I feel his muscles tense. "Thank you for saving me."

"Uh-" Leo is muttering in surprise. "Did I miss something?"

"No, Leon, you didn't miss anything of importance." The snarky purple one says, pushing me away. I wasn't expecting him to be so defensive, but at least I finally found my mystery hero. "Frankly, I have no idea what you're thanking me for. We just met, what, like five minutes ago?"

Crossing my arms, I lean against the wall. "You remember a mutant dog who was attacking a girl in some dark alleyway two days ago? That was me. Right before they scratched me, someone who had purple fabric on them came to my rescue. I actually have that piece of fabric in my phone case, so let me just go get it and we'll see if the prints match the culprit."

I make my way over to the other side of the room, grab my phone, open the case, and slowly reveal the purple material. Everyone seems to perk up when they see its resemblance.

"Alright, fine. Scoff. You caught me. I was doing a quick run for April and heard you screaming, so I just dropped in and helped you out." He looked away from me.

Smiling, I sit down on the floor. "Well, thanks for that."

Leo gets up, stretching his muscles. "So, you said there are some people after us?"

"Yep."

"And they may or may not be watching us right now?"

"Mhm."

"Well then, I say we give the audience a show."
