Noah couldn't resist.
Mia has been texting him non-stop for a few hours. He tried to ignore it at first, which worked fine. Until suddenly there were hundreds of messages. To say that Noah wasn't interested in what happened to Mia was an understatement.
But Noah was curious about what she would write to him. He is and remained a small curiosity. He imagined how she would blame him for everything and how she would insult him with everything that the German and English language had to offer.
Even just the thought made him smile.
Noah couldn't stand it. He opened the chat of himself and Mia, and prepare for her attempt to finish him off.
But instead he found some sweet messages. Mia was probably desperate, but a piece- even a small piece, he regretted his and Charlies action.
He knew what she was trying to do, but he still couldn't set the gaslight again.
He called her.
And before he could say anything, she cut him off, "Meet me for coffee." She knew he couldn't say no to a coffee. For one thing, it was his favorite drink. And he loved it to meet up with his friends for coffee and cake, he thought the idea was kinda cute.
There they sat, Noah with an Americano and Mia with her espresso and a small glass of water next to it. Both also had a piece of cheesecake in front of them - the New York style.
He looked around for a while. The coffeeshop was nice, and it was not central.
Noah sat with his back straight, as his arms rested on his lap, he was tense. He knew it was meant to be far more than just a coffee chat. "I don't know what you're trying to achieve with this but-"
"I want to reason you. We can't let Charlie tear us apart." She went to grab his hand but he deftly dodged it.
He held up his hand to stop her. "Charlie sure isn't breaking this up here." He made a move between himself and Mia. "That boat was doomed, and capsized long before that."
Mia rolled her needy eyes, "I can't lose you too. I only have you."
"Correction, you only have yourself." He took a long gulp from his drink.
"Are you serious? What did I do to make you both so mad at me?" she asked in her conscience tone.
Noah leaned over the small table "Are you serious? You said you wanted to kick Charlie in the stomach!" In a whisper he yelled in her face.
"I was just joking," she scoffed, in the same tone as Noah.
He slowly sat back in his chair. "You've always been jealous of Charlie. You wanted everything she had. You wanted to be her. You wanted to be with her."
"Don't act like you never wanted anything from our beloved Charlie." She squinted at him.
Noah shook his head quickly. "You know, that was something completely different." He quickly defended himself.
"Yeah, I never acted on that. I never kissed her." She slowly picked up her drink and took a sip of it.
"I misunderstood the situation. We settled it and talked it out. Tell me Mia, what have you ever talked out in your life?"
