Finally, the last bell does its job telling us to leave. The rest of the school day went by agonizingly slow. I can finally get to cheer practice. I mean it's not really my favorite thing, but it's a good community here. And by good community I mean Riley and hopefully now Skylar.

I think Sky said that her last class of the day is statistics, so I'll meet her outside of her class to show her to the field.

I quickly exit my classroom passing through the doorway. I take a quick right and in just a few short seconds, I'm standing outside her classroom waiting for her to reach the wooden door.

I see her come through, bag slung on one shoulder. "Hey," I say, getting her attention.

She looks over to me, a smile forming on her face, "hey yourself."

"Are you ready for cheer tryouts?"

"As ready as I'll ever be, but don't get too sad if I don't make it," she says while nudging my shoulder.

"Come on! You can't be that bad, most of the time everyone makes it anyway. Not many people try out," I say as we start heading into the direction towards the back exit of the school.

"Well that's relieving, but don't you want everyone to be great for competitions?" She asks, eyebrow raised.

"I mean, competitions are important. But our team is about supporting each other to do better. Not for competition but for us," I say, trying to alleviate some of that stress I can feel oozing off her body.

"Really? I thought cheer was all about pushing so hard making a competition win a must." She looks deep in thought. Her  thumb and pointer finger resting atop her chin akin to Sherlock Holmes getting ready to solve a mystery.

"Well, you're lucky that Riley is our captain. She's very caring and treats us all as family. What's important is having fun," I say, patting her shoulder.

A small, comfortable silence falls over us as we make it near the field. We make the small trek up the hill. The hills flat up top, making it perfect for the football field to be.

As we make it up top, I turn to face Sky, a smile stretching on my face. "The best part is the view. Look behind us," I say as I swoop around facing the valley as she does the same.

The field and our school are at the top of the valley, giving us a beautiful view of what lies beneath. The sun, albeit not yet sunset, has lowered giving small tints that paint the sky. And with it, the valley as well. You can see the beautiful forestry that lies beneath, and the hills that expand out word, not looking any bigger than a small bump in the distance.

I hear Sky take an inhale of fresh air, the rays of orange bouncing off her skin, giving her an ethereal glow. I take my own sharp inhale as I look over her face, then her lips noticing that smile that has been giving me butterflies since this morning.

Snap out of it!

I shake my head, thinking it'd get rid of these thoughts. I just have to get through this year, then I can do it. "So, does the view suit your taste?" I ask jokingly.

She nods her head slowly, still taking in the sight. She then looks over at me, her eyes pointed at mine. "It's very pretty."

I nod and  turn around facing the field once again, starting to walk in the direction of practice. "Where'd you live before you moved here?"

She catches up to walk right next to me. "I lived in the city, the one that's just a couple hours away."

"Why'd you move out in the middle of nowhere?"

She looks down at her hands, fiddling with her fingers which I know see as a nervous habit that she has. "Just had some issues with my classmates. Decided to get a fresh start."
