The party pretty much went nicely after that. Things between Skylar and I were pretty awkward but not that bad considering how big the elephant is in the room. But it did go by slowly. Jake kept being so lovey which is cute of him. He would certainly make someone super happy.

Why can't I just like him though?

Right now, I'm laying in my bed, sprawled out. My eyes locked on the ceiling as if  I'm having some kind of staring contest. I'm just thinking about everything. I kissed a girl, and not to just quote Katy Perry, but I liked it. I mean, I knew I was going to, but I didn't think it was gonna be that much different. I didn't expect the butterflies to flood my stomach.

I feel my phone vibrate and I immediately feel a pit in my stomach. I can just tell who it is. Not that I'm not happy she's texting me, but I'm scared of how I'm going to explain. To tell her I'm not ready to be out just yet. But how do I do that? And when I do, will she be accepting? Be understanding?

With a groan, I flip over to my side, picking up my phone to check my recent messages.

Sky: hey, are you okay to talk today?

I sigh, my heart rate picks up pace. I can do this. It needs to happen and it's not fair to her to just ignore it.

Laur: yeah, where do you wanna meet?

It doesn't take long for her to respond back, maybe a few seconds at most. But to me, it felt like an eternity.

Sky: do you wanna meet at the park that's across from Main Street?

Laur: sounds good, I'll see you in an hour

Okay, then it's settled, time to come clean. I can do this.

It doesn't take long for me to reach the park after getting dressed. I still have about twenty minutes to kill. Considering it's still early September, the weather is beautiful. The way the lights shine through the trees makes me feel like I'm in some fantasy world going on a quest of adventure.

For some reason, everything looks so vibrant. The grass is shining with green hues as the wind makes the blades dance with it. I sit on an orange bench, making sure to be careful not to get a splinter from the old deteriorated wood.

With a sigh, I look around seeing all the kids play and the playground nearest to me. The parents, off to the side engaging in conversation but still with their eyes glued to their child. I smile at the sight, longing for that feeling of being a kid. Of being normal.

I feel the buzz of my phone in my back pocket, probably Sky saying she'll be here shortly. I reach for it, bringing it in eyesight, seeing that it was indeed Sky.

Sky: I'm here!

I look up from the message, looking around for the girl that has been on my mind for the past week. I see her, lightly jogging over to me, her shorts showing off her legs. She has a gentle smile on her face, but I can still see the nervous aura that surrounds her.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I made you wait long," she says in between breaths.

"It's okay, I got here early, you didn't have to run," I respond, laughing lightly.

She nods and sits down behind me. An awkward silence falls over us as we just sit there, staring at nothing in particular. All you can hear is the loud chirping of the birds and the kids playing a few feet away.

"So..." she starts to say, looking down and fiddling with her fingers. "I liked it!" She stutters out, speaking at lightning speed.

I turn my head to look at her, my face tilts to the side in confusion. She looks back at me, staring for a second before her mouth forms an 'o' shape in realization as to why I was confused.
