ONIKA

Today was the first day back at school since Bey and I kissed twice, and I was nervous. I didn't know if she was going act like it never happened.

I told her I liked her and I didn't regret that because it didn't really change much for us but I hated that she said we wouldn't be together. I understood why and I honestly didn't disagree, she had a bough going on already.

Getting ready for school was the worst. I tried on at least ten outfits before I settled on something more laid back. I was definitely taking Beys opinion into consideration way too much and she said she liked me in sweats when I saw her in target.

I was wearing flared leggings with a matching cropped zipper hoodie and a cropped white shirt. It wasn't my usual style but I thought I still looked cute.

To say I was an overthinker would be an understatement. I just had my first kiss with the girl I didn't know I liked and now I had to see her at school, that was a good enough reason to be stressing.

I left for school at my usual time and stopped to get Starbucks like I usually would. While I was in the drive through line I decided to call Bey to see if she wanted anything.

I know how pressed I seemed, but she didn't. She didn't know about all the outfit changes or reversing in the line at Starbucks to park so I could ask her if she wanted anything.

I wasn't completely expecting her to answer especially since it was early and I don't think she even went to her morning classes. But surprisingly she did answer, coughing. "Hey, did you mean to call me?"

I laughed to cover up that I was embarrassed that she would even ask that. "Yeah, are you busy?"

"No not really, why?"

"I'm at Starbucks I was just wondering if you wanted anything."

"That brown sugar oatmilk drink I asked for last time with an extra shot of espresso, please. I'll cashapp you back for it."

"No need, I have a gift card. Do you want anything to eat?"

"No, I'm good. But thank you."

I raised an eyebrow even though she couldn't see me. "Are you high?"

"I'm hotboxing with Robyn right now, it's the only way anybody could get me to wake up this early for school."

"So will you be at school when I get there?" I didn't want the ice to melt and water her drink down.

"I'm already in the parking lot. Just let me know when you get here."

"Okay. I'll be there in a little bit, bye."

She mumbled something along the lines of she would see me later and hung up the phone. That went well.

I got back in line and waited my turn to order. I got the drink she wanted even though she didn't give me the full name because she asked for it in Target too. I also got her a breakfast wrap because I knew she would be hungry after smoking.

At least she was just smoking and not on pills. She told me she took a break from them yesterday, I didn't know how long that was going to last. Probably another day.

I ordered everything and started driving to school. There was twenty minutes until the late bell rang by the time I got to school but I always get there early so nobody steals my parking spot.

I didn't know what Robyn's car looked like so I called Bey again. She answered on the first ring out of breath like she just finished laughing. "You're here?"
