ONIKA
I was sitting at home one night when Bey called me.
It was almost a week after our talk and things were okay, but we hadn't talked much. Nothing happened, she just kept skipping school.
I answered the phone from my desk in my bedroom where I was getting some work done. "Hello?"
"Hey. What are you doing right now?"
"Just some Calc work. What are you doing?"
"I just got off work, I wanted to see you. Can I come pick you up, beautiful?"
I smiled since she couldn't see me. "Maybe. Pick me up and do what?"
"Let's just get food and listen to music and vibe. I miss you, we haven't hung out in a while."
One thing I told her I wanted her to do was verbalize her feelings for me. She was actually listening to me.
"Okay, sure. Just let me know when you're here."
"Great. I'm just going to go home and shower really quick. Bye."
"Bye Bey. Drive safe." I hung up on her and squealed. I had to play it cool until we got off the phone but I was so excited she asked me to hang out.
I was fine with what I was wearing so I got up and went to my mom's room to let her know I was about to leave. I barged right in and she was in bed reading a book, probably about to go to sleep.
"Sorry to bother you, I just wanted to let you know I was about to leave." I was trying to make it quick since she reading, and I didn't really want her to ask many questions either.
She raised an eyebrow from behind her book. "This late? With who?"
"Just Bey." I knew she knew Bey wasn't just Bey. "She just got off work, we're going to hang out and eat."
"Hmm." She always said everything she had to say without really saying it. "Well have fun and be safe. Don't stay out too late please, we have church in the morning."
I nodded. "Okay, goodnight. Love you."
"Love you too. Goodnight."
I left her room and went back to mine. My outfit was fine but I still had to fix my hair, brush my teeth again, and spray some perfume on.
I was just hanging out around my house so I was just wearing straight leg grey Nike sweatpants and a grey t-shirt. It was probably the perfect outfit since we were just sitting in her car.
I was sitting on my bed waiting by the time Bey texted me that she was outside my house.
I grabbed my wallet and phone and then left. It was the same Honda Civic as the last time so I got right in. "Hey Bey."
She gave me a quick hug and I got a whiff of her. She smelled fresh out of the shower. "Hey pretty."
I loved all the names she called me.
She looked cute, she was just wearing a white t-shirt and green sweatpants but she always made simple stuff look good. Everything always fit her so perfectly.
"Where are we getting food from?" I'm not going to lie, I was starving.
She shrugged and started to pull out of my driveway. "You down for Chickfila?"
"Sure." A chicken sandwich would hit.
She grabbed her phone and unlocked it while still driving. "Here, can you go to the app and order ahead? They're closing soon."
