Hazel Harrington. Just an average thirteen year old. Fights monsters from alternate dimensions every now and then. Skateboards. Gives herself new haircuts every other week for fun. One week she wants bangs, the next she doesn't. Has the second highest score on "Dig Dug" meaning Dustin was now in third. She was great at a lot of things. The one thing she wasn't so great at though, was going to dances.

Sure, she knew how to dance. She just thought the whole idea of dancing inside of her middle school gym was a little....cliche. But nevertheless, she was going tonight. She picked a simple dress, not wanting to do anything too fancy. And her and Steve were to pick up Dustin later that night.

It had been a month since El closed the gate, and in all honesty. Hazel was fine. There was almost always something to make her nervous, or anxious. But for once, in a long time, she felt fine. Nothing was bothering the young Harrington anymore. Her parents had come home the week prior to the dance, but left two days later for another business trip. And this time, they weren't coming back until the middle of summer.

Hazel didn't mind though. Her parents didn't seem to care much about her. Steve was more of a dad then a brother really. He was the only person out of her whole family that actually acted like they were family. Other than him, she just viewed her friends, and her friends' family as her family. Joyce was like a mom to her. She had known Will since first grade, and they instantly clicked. He introduced her to Mike and Lucas and they all became best friends immediately. Dustin then came along in fourth grade, and from the moment she met him, they we're best friends as well. He always knew how to make someone laugh. And he seemed to almost always be 'the light' in the room.

Nancy was like an older sister to the young Harrington. And when she found out that her and Steve were dating, she was ecstatic. She didn't expect it to last long, (which it somewhat did) but even though they had broken up, she still hung out with the girl from time to time.

Now there was Max, and even though Mike wasn't very fond of her, he ended up letting her in the party. Hazel, Lucas and Dustin were over the moon when he had 'announced' it.
