chapter two
⚛ that looked like it hurt ⚛"I HATE YOU, YOU KNOW THAT." Hazel sighed as she grabbed her toast off of her plate and walked to grab her shoes from the door. "I really fucking hate you."
Her brother laughed as he took another bite of his cereal. After Hazel chased him through the entire house, for five minutes, he locked himself in his room, until Max had told him he was safe to come out without getting jumped by his sister, who he found making toast.
"Yeah, well I'm not so fond of you either." He grinned. The brunette groaned, as he stuck the toast in her mouth, before sitting on the floor, and starting to tie her shoes.
Hazel heard the sound if a door clicking, and turned to as Max walking out from the bathroom. The two girls locked eyes with each other, and Max just smiled, as she then walked towards the couch, and plopped down onto it.
Butterflies erupted in Hazel's stomach as she watched the red head smile at her. She thought she was over Max. So why weren't they going away. She was over her. Definitely over her. Nothing to like about her. In the attracted way. She liked her as a friend, that was it.
Hazel had come out to her friends near the end of the school year. And she was happy with the outcome. Because apparently they didn't thunk it was weird, like she assumed they would think. And even though people would stare at her, knowing she was bi, she ignored it. She didn't care what they would think. She was happy, and that's all that mattered. Right?
"Okay, Maxine!" Hazel called to her friend, who instantly groaned at the name. "Let's go! 'We don't want to be late'!" She mocked the girl, who had rushed her earlier to get ready, which wasn't easy since she was soaked.
"Shut up!" Max exclaimed, and Hazel giggled, as the red head chased her put of the house, leaving Steve without a goodbye.
Steve watched the two teenage girls run out of the house with a smile on his face. Despite the multiple times that Hazel had denied liking Max, he knew she still did. But he didn't pester the girl, knowing that wasn't the type of topic to annoy her about, since she would get somewhat sensitive, not ever wanting to talk about it. He didn't mind that, he was just happy that she was...happy.
✳
"Finally!" Mike exclaimed, as Hazel and Max walked into the back door of Dustin Henderson's house. His mom had given them the key so they could surprise him when he got home from sleep away camp.
"What took you so long!?" The boy asked as Hazel plopped down on the couch closing her eyes.
"Long story." Max told the boy. "How close is he?" Mike shrugged, yet Eleven knew the answer as soon as the car pulled into the drive way. "About ten seconds." She said casually.
Hazel's eyes instantly opened in surprise, and she jumped off of the couch. "Hurry!" Lucas exclaimed, as he pulled Max around the corner of the wall, Hazel and Will following behind them.
Hazel pushed her back up against the wall when she heard the door open. She saw Eleven look around the wall, as Dustin went into his room. Hazel had to put a hand over her mouth to keep herself from giggling. She could hear Dustin say something, before the sound of robots, and yelling was heard from his room.
Hazel let a giggle out, and Max instantly covered her mouth, making it harder for the girl to keep herself from giggling. Max sighed with a smile, and dropped her hand, letting it fall to her side.
The kids peered around the wall, and Eleven gave them the "okay" signal. Lucas walked in front of them all, holdings banner that read 'Welcome home Dustin'. The rest of the party walked behind him, all with noise makers in their mouths. Max silently counted down from three, before everyone blew on the noise makers.
Instantly, Hazel knew they had screwed up, because as soon as they blew their noise makers, Dustin screamed at the top of his lungs, and turned around spraying his hair spray into Lucas' eyes.
The boy then dropped the banner and screamed in pain, even after Dustin stopped spraying him. Dustin's eyes were wide in fear, as he looked at his friend who was now crying in pain, with his hands out, not being able to see.
"What the hell!?" Dustin exclaimed. Making Hazel laugh, while Max walked over to her boyfriend, trying to help him out.
"C'mon, I've got you." Max guided Lucas to the sink, trying to help. Hazel turned from the couple to Dustin, who watched with wide eyes, not expecting that to happen.
"So how was camp?"
✳
"I call it, the forever clock. Very useful in the apocalypse if you ask me." Dustin handed, something that seemed to be a mini windmill to Will, before turning back to his creations.
"Then, there is this. The slammer." He brought out a hammer that seemed to vibrate extremely fast, El didn't seem to like it very much.
"But this, this is my real master piece." Dustin then unzipped a...duffle bag? Something like it. To reveal a ham radio, Hazel hadn't seen one of these in a while. "I would like you to meet...Cerebro."
"Holy shit. You made a ham radio!?" Hazel's eyes were widened in amazement. "Actually its a disassembled radio tower, but, yeah. This baby is the Cadillac, of ham radio's. You can talk to almost anyone, with it. I'm talking north pole, to south." Hazel whispered a "woah" as she stared at the radio tower.
"I can talk to my girlfriend whenever I want." The boy smiled, making the four teens look up at him in surprise. "Girlfriend!?"
"Yep. Her names Suzie. I met her at camp." The boy stood up smiling, the others following in suit. "Hold on, you said we could talk to her over this...thing?" Mike gestured to the disassembled radio tower. Dustin nodded.
The kids agreed to go set up the radio tower, and so, Dustin zipped up the bag, before heading out of his room, the others behind him.
So this was a rather short chapter, but I was extremely tired, and just had to update something, so I'll hopefully make another chapter soon.
