Just Behind The Door

AN: I have a lot of feelings about the 'It's gotta be perfect' movie. Here's one of the many, many, MANY ideas I have with it.

How long had it been? Three stopped counting hours ago. He didn't want to know after the first day of this.

In the past, he would've let Four get away with this kind of behavior. 'Let him kill himself' He would've said 'It's not my problem.'  He may have been right.

Regardless, Three is making this his problem. Four is still cooped up in his room.

His friend is killing himself working on this video meanwhile he's sitting outside, leaning against the wall next to the door to Four's room with his thumb up his ass because no matter what he or even anyone has tried doesn't work. A small pile of coffees and Mcdonald's bags are piled against the door. He doesn't even know why he's still buying them, he knows Four isn't gonna take them. He's just wasting his own money at this point.

How did this even happen?

But of course, he knew.

He started this after all.

This wasn't supposed to happen. He didn't think it would happen. He just wanted to teach Four a lesson about quality over quantity. He didn't think it would ever go this far.

But it did. He sighed sadly, looking up at the ceiling. He had so many things he wanted to say, things he could say if he wasn't a coward. If he wasn't so guarded.

'The past me would think I'm pathetic, sitting here like this.' He doesn't know why he's trying. Most of the others have given up.

Oh who's he kidding

He knows why he's still here.

Honestly, he's not sure when it happened. Maybe it was the forced proximity to each other in order to use their meme powers. Maybe it was finally gaining mutual respect for each other. Or maybe they were always there but he didn't want to admit that's how he really felt, but he had feelings for Four. Romantic feelings. Feelings he could never admit out loud. Ones he never wanted to admit to himself.

But watching the person you love essentially drive themself to ruin puts things into perspective.

Speaking for Four....It's quiet.

Too quiet.

It's probably nothing.

He's still alive.

Right?

Three is knocking at the door frantically before he even realizes what he's doing. "Four! I'm only knocking so much because the other guys are worried about you." A complete lie "I don't care if you're dead or anything." Another lie. He cares. He cares a lot "Say something at least!"

Pure silence.

Three presses his ear against the door, desperate to hear something. Faintly, he can make out the sounds of clicking keys. He lets out a shaky sigh.

He had no idea how a sound so minuscule can be such a comfort in this time.

Four is okay. Well, he's not okay, but he's alive. He rubs his hand over his bandaged knuckles. Meggy had to drag him away to wrap up his bleeding hand when he had tried to break down the door. She hadn't said anything. She didn't need to say anything. But she knew.

She knew.

Maybe that's why no one else has tried to stop him. Maybe they all know it would be pointless.

Three's tried everything he can think of. All that he can really do is wait.

He sits back down in his earlier position, letting out a sad sigh.

It's crazy how someone can feel so far away, even if they're just behind the door.
