So, I have decided to put the events of the diplomatic missions after the defense of
Qua-Toyne, which will be the focus of this chapter. This chapter may feel like a plot device to make the US and Soviet Union known across the entire World, and that's because it partially is.

26th of January 1990
Onboard the USS Independence, part of the joint US-Soviet force

The runway was bustling with activity, as aircraft were being ferried onto the lower decks, to be subjected to rigorous maintenance and checkups, to guarantee a high readiness rate.
Onboard of the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC),tanks, IFVs and logistics vehicles could be seen lined up, ready to be deployed on a beach. These forces were made up of mostly mechanized infantry and armoured units, consisting of M2A2 Bradley and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, and  M1A1 Abrams and T-80U/B  tanks. This choice was made to facilitate high tactical and strategic mobility, which was going to be needed for rapid mobile defensive and offensive warfare, which was the type of warfare the coalition, as it had become known, was prepared for.
While they were slowly sailing towards the small agricultural nation they were planning to defend, a small vessel was spotted. It flew the flag of an unknown nation, and was keeping its distance from the coalition fleet, which could be described as a joint Soviet-American carrier strike group.

Point of view of the small vessel, a Qua Toyne gunboat
The captain was left in bewilderment as he saw more and more of the mysterious grey ships appear. Not only were they abnormally large, ther layout also heavily deviated from standard shipbuilding practice. Some appeared to have one forward gun, some had wired long tubes in place of guns, the largest ones appeared to be unharmed, with a large tower that had small, thin strips and an unknown rotating device on top of it. And there were more and more of them appearing. Some of these ships appeared to be powered by large, cylindrical objects. The most curious thing about them was that not a single one of them had sails.

"What the hell are those ships? How are they moving without sails?"
The captain cried out in confusion. He ordered to maintain a distance of at least 2 kilometers. He didn't know what to do. He was certain that attacking them was not a great choice. However, he was caught between a rock and a hard place: In front of him were the unknown ships, and behind him were multiple Lourian gunboats trying to track him down. He had the choice between certain death and seeking protection behind those unknown vessels.
Since I haven't attacked them and they haven't attacked me, I should be safe in their company.
"Multiple gunboats spotted over the horizon!",  The crows nest alarmed the crew.
He had no chance against the multiple Lourian gunboats, and now no choice but to seek protection from the unknown fleet.
"Get us towards the unknown fleet, know!"
"But sir-"
"There are no buts! We stand no chance against either of them! The difference is that the gunboats are hostile and the unknown fleet is neutral!"
The helmsman reluctantly steered towards the unknown fleet, which seemed to have already spotted them a long time ago, as a small boat had been lowered from one of the unknown ships and was approaching his gunboat. Interestingly, this small boat was propelled by rowing, as all small boats were. It escorted them towards the unknown fleet. Then, the people in the small boat requested permission to board his ship.
3 strange men went on deck, with one dressed in plain white, and the other 2 in dark blue.
The Captain introduced himself.
"I am Captain Tones of the Qua Toyan Navy gunboat QRN Mikan."
"I am Captain Woods of the United States of America Navy Destroyer USS Ticonderoga", The man dressed in white responded.
"What brings you into these waters, especially with such a large fleet?", Captain Tones asked.
"We are here to defend a small agricultural nation, that is being threatened by its neighbor."
Captain Tones was in shock. How did they know about the situation of Qua Toyne? Why did they bring this many warships? How were they going to defend Qua Toyne with ships alone? Who were these "United States of America"? Did they have allies?
"Do you mind if we take your ship into our convoy?", The man identifying himself as Captain Woods asked Tones.
"Would that not result in your convoy having to slow down?
"No worries, we can secure your ship on the side of one of our ships."
This was being planned for as soon as the gunboat had started to move towards the coalition fleet.
Tones was amazed. They were willing to take him and his ship under the protection of their convoy, which could probably make short work of the gunboats chasing him.
