Thinking About You

Since making their relationship real two weeks ago, Spencer hadn't been able to spend much time with Trina. With Esme now living at his grandmother's place, he wanted to make sure that she didn't try to take off with Ace in the dead of night. Everyone, from Alexis to his grandmother kept telling him to give her a chance, but he couldn't. He couldn't prove that her memory loss was real, but out of everyone in Port Charles, he was the one that spent the most time with Esme. And even if she couldn't remember who she was a year ago - he did.

Which is why he had to stay alert to her every move.

"Is something wrong Spencer?"

Reminding himself of the promise he made with to grandmother, Spencer glanced over at Esme in the doorway of his bedroom. She was holding his baby brother, which made it easier for him to send a smile toward her when he answered, "No, nothing is wrong."

"Then why are you looking like that?" Esme questioned.

Spencer closed his eyes and released a deep sigh. "You've taken to spying on me now, Esme?"

"I wasn't spying on you! Just passed by your room to see if you could help me with Ace."

That got his attention, but Spencer didn't want to seem to eager. Counting to three in his head, he looked at Ace and then back to Esme. "What does he need?"

Though when Esme started to explain what she wanted help with, Spencer's phone began to vibrate inside his pocket. Pulling it out, he saw Trina's name as he swiped open the screen.

Just thinking about you.

Hope everything's okay 🙂

-Trina

It'd been six days since he last saw Trina, and Spencer missed spending time with her. He knew it was her idea to not proceed with pressing charges against Esme for everything she'd done, but he couldn't help wanting nothing more than to see Esme locked up and far away from Ace.

Trina's always the more clear headed one of us.

Just as Spencer began to think of a way to thank Trina for her patience when it came to Ace and Esme, another voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Did you hear anything I said?"

Turning to face Esme, Spencer put his phone back into his pocket. "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"

Esme rolled her eyes, "If you have somewhere, or someone that's more important-"

"Ace's well being is always top priority to me." Spencer snapped.

The two stared hard at one another and when he glanced over at Ace, Spencer reminded himself to stay calm, for his baby brother's sake. Putting his plans for Trina on hold, he walked toward Esme and reached for Ace. His brother's tiny hands reached out for him and Spencer smiled, even when Esme huffed while handing Ace over. Once I make sure Ace is okay, I'll do the same for Trina.

When Ace was finally down for the night, Spencer stared at Ace as he slept peacefully in his crib. And after confirming with Ava that he was free to visit the castle, he texted Trina back, asking her to meet him there. He returned to his room and collected a few things, placing them into a small bag before walking down the stairs. Spencer smiled when he saw his grandmother Laura sitting in the living room on the couch with Kevin, her husband.

"And what are you two love birds up to this evening?" Spencer teasingly asked.

Kevin started to answer, but Laura placed a hand on her husband's knee. Spencer saw the soft smile on her face before she spoke, "It looks like we could ask you the same?"

He tried to stop the corners of his mouth from turning upward, but with both of them now grinning at him, Spencer couldn't. Seeing his grandmother's smile grow wider, he chuckled.

"Well, with Ace in bed, and you two here to watch over Esme, I figured I would spend some time hanging out with a friend."

"Just a friend?" Kevin inquired.

Laura turned to Kevin and kissed him on the cheek, "My husband is very perceptive, you know."

"Okay, fine. I'm going to see Trina." Spencer confirmed.

Kevin laughed as Laura tried to hide her grin behind her hands. "Good, good. Well, don't let us keep you."

"Have a good night Spencer." Laura added.

As he made his way to the front door, Spencer felt someone else watching their interaction, but as he looked up the stairs toward Esme and Ace's room, there was no one there.

"Good night." Spencer said, as he opened the door to leave.
