"Dan?" Phil called out as he walked into the flat that they shared.
"In here!" Dan yelled from the kitchen. He had food all over the table in a we're-expecting-company kind of way.
There was a knock on the door and Dan yelled excitingly "coming!!! I bet it's them!" He told Phil as he walked out of the kitchen and to the front door.
Phil looked around for clues as to who could be coming over. The only thing that was out of order was Dan's laptop on the table of food. The laptop had YouTube opened on it. At the top of the screen, it showed the number of subscribers Dan and Phil games had. Phil didn't have time to see the number because Dan was coming back. When Dan was visual, he had PJ, Chris, Troye, Tyler, and Louise on his tail.
"What's going on Dan?" Phil said as he stared at the guest.
"1..." Dan replied
"Huh?" This confused Phil. What was Dan talking about and what was this surprise that Dan kept talking about.
"2...." Dan said keeping Phil wondering
"3!!" When Dan got to the 3, a banner popped up. The banner read "Congrats on a million subscribers!"
Phil couldn't believe it. "Is this a joke?!"
"Nope! We have a million subscribers on Dan And Phil Games! Hence all the food! We are going to celebrate!"
"Crap" Phil just remembered he had a date with Kelsey.
Everyone else sat down at the table and was ready to eat. "What's wrong Phil? You look as if you've seen a ghost. Or worst, a moth..." Dan laughed at his joke but his smile dropped when he saw Phil's expression. Phil felt bad about having to ditch the celebration. But he couldn't bail on a first date. What would Kelsey think of him?
"Wait. You didn't see a moth, did you?!" Phil laughed at Dan's scared expression but it was a heart-filled laugh.
"No... I... Um... I have a date tonight and I just remembered about it." Dan looked at Phil thinking he was joking. "Oh.. Ok." Dan replied when he realized Phil was serious.
"I'm sorry. I know this is a huge step for us- I mean for our career. I should celebrate with you. Maybe when I get back, we can watch films?"
Dan didn't know what to say. This shouldn't hurt. He should be proud of Phil. But some reason he couldn't suppress the feelings he have had for Phil for years now. Dan managed to nod his head pull a small smile.
"Ok. Once again, I'm sorry. I'll see you later tonight. Bye guys." And with that Phil walked out and went for his date.
