hwang hyunjin. what a man. the way he danced, and the way you could tell that he was enjoying himself. the way he knew that he was attractive. the way he smiled and looked like he could do no harm.
oh but he has done harm.
you met him when you were 13, and now you're 19. hyunjin has been a great friend to you, but what if you didn't want to be just friends anymore? what if you wanted him to kiss you? was that bad? maybe. but you couldn't help it. he always made your heart flutter, even just the simplest actions.
"hey, y/n look it's your boyfriend!" mina giggled. "he's not my boyfriend." you and mina were sitting in the library, causing you to whisper. "just ask him out already, i've seen the way you look at him." oh great. so apparently it's obvious then. or maybe it's just best friend instincts. mina did always know what you were thinking. "oh shit he's coming over here!"
you watched as he walked over to the two of you. "hey, y/n! hi mina," he started, "can i join you two?" you were going to say no, but mina said yes before you could even think about it. "so actually i was thinking, what's the best place to take someone out to?"
oh. he's taking someone out?
"i think a pinic or cafe would be cute and aesthetic!" mina smiled at you. "what about you, y/n?" you tried to think but you couldn't. "oh, um, yeah! i agree with what mina said!" he laughed at your clearly flustered state.
"okay then, will you go to the park with me tomorrow?" wait what? "yes!" you said a little bit too excitedly. he laughed again. goodness, why was he so cute? "see you then." mina started doing that dumb smile she always did when you were wrong and she was right. "look who's blushing!" she snickered. "shut up."
next day
you'd decided what you were going to wear on the date. you were really happy. you just hoped you wouldn't mess everything up.
once you had arrived you saw hyunjin sitting on a blanket by a tree. he was holding a picnic basket. you walked over to him and he greeted you. "hi, y/n, i like your outfit." you smiled, "thank you, i like yours too."
you guys had fun, talking for what felt like hours, laughing at dumb jokes, gossiping about your least favorite classmates. you ate all your favorite foods, and you were surprised hyunjin remembered all the little things you had told him.
"so, y/n, are you dating anyone?" is he really asking me this? "no" you said, hopeful. "do you want to be my girlfriend?"
