He didn't know much about the mechanics of singing.
How did one inhale air, and exhale song?
It was a question he'd found himself pondering over at least once a day in the last quarter.
His significant other was well aware of her talent, but she didn't quite understand the awe she inspired in him. Each time she decided to let the words on her spirit flow into the physical realm, coalesced together by melody, he couldn't help but stop and pay attention.
"So real, so real..."
Her timbre transformed almost entirely in this state. A light, but powerful and agile sound took place of the low, and colourful voice that she spoke with.
It was emblematic of the duality that was so inherent to her. Soft but solid; from everywhere, but nowhere at all.
"So real..."
So real in deed.
That last run was particularly pretty.
The Makuti-style villa they were stying in was the definition of open plan. With the skylight openings in the thatched roof, which was constituted of dried coconut palm leaves, the property was constantly awash with fresh air and the salinity of the ocean nearby. He could almost imagine the notes being carried out by the breeze, before dissipating completely somewhere between here and the beach.
And a brief glance at his surroundings served as all the reminder he needed that she had absolutely shown him somethin' real over the last few months.
The decision to take some time off and travel was one that came to them unanimously. It felt like the natural next step, after so much time apart.
Here were two people who shared so much of themselves with their loved ones. The need to take some well deserved time away, in order to begin the process of building became apparent within a matter of weeks.
It was the first time she had truly taken time off, without having any work related matters to tend to in her adult life.
She was still getting used to being waited on, and catered to, finding it as unnatural as she did endearing. But as they learned over their time on the continent, kindness was the through thread that connected all of the people they had encountered, regardless of ethnicity or creed.
