Tilly was running towards Darius's open arms, and he lifted her from the ground to spin her once before taking her back down and holding her hand gently, a doting smile on his face as Tilly laughed, gleeful.
I didn't peg for Darius to be father material, daddy material yes, but certainly not like this. He had a soft spot for Tilly, everyone can see it. I can't blame him. Almost all of us here have a soft spot for her. She has this way of worming into your heart and burrowing itself in it, not budging to move.
That's why everyone was worried when she contracted fever. I mean, sure, if this happened before the apocalypse, it would not be a big deal. But with the lack of medical technology and working hospitals now, if worse comes to worst, Tilly would die.
Luckily, with the help of the medical supplies we brought from outside and Quartz's sole focus on her getting better, it took three days for Tilly to be fully recovered. Olliver was by her side and didn't leave except for when he needs to take a bath. Other than that, he slept beside her, ate food beside her, and took care of her with Quartz, Alistair, and Connor.
In front of my house was a front yard with a small cemented table and circular solid chairs made to look like logs surrounding it, that's where Darius sat Tilly down.
"I was meant to give you this days ago, but I never got the chance." Darius had a dead floral crown in his hands. Although the flowers have already withered, I could see that Darius tried his best to preserve its beauty.
Tilly looked at it in awe before standing abruptly and hugging Darius's waist, squeezing him with her might. Darius then pretended to struggle and wheeze, which caused her to laugh even harder with joy.
"I love it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Tilly was so giddy that Darius had a hard time putting it on top of her head and when he did, it was askew.
"Let me fix that for you." Zachary was gentle in handling the crown on top of her head and fixing it up just as he said.
"Thank you, Z." Tilly mumbled, a bit shy all of a sudden. She hid behind Darius's large back, which caused Zachary to fake being bewildered.
He playfully gasped. "Where's Tilly? I wonder where she had gone~?"
I saw Tilly covering her mouth to prevent her giggles escaping from it.
"Darius? Did you see our dearest?" Zachary asked him. He merely shrugged, looking nonchalant.
"I don't know. I'm not hiding her behind me or anything."
Zachary hummed, "Hm... is that so~?"
The both of them reconciled by the time Connor and I got back from looting the drugstores, which, in truth, saved me a lot of headaches from forming if they weren't.
"Kekeke~" Tilly can't take it anymore and charged at Zachary, her cheeky giggles turning into bubbly laughter as it was Zachary's turn to spin her around.
Onyx found me just like that, standing on the doorway of my house with my arms crossed and a relaxed smile on my face as I saw them play.
"We're ready for you." He rested his hands on my waist and kissed my shoulder, an affectionate action that tickled me enough to have goosebumps and made my scalp numb.
"That sounds so fucking wrong in so many ways." I turned around and gingerly placed my arms around the nape of his neck, my forehead automatically resting on his as if it was second nature to us.
"I mean," he merely shrugged, "We could do that."
"And by that, I mean sex. Mind-blowing sex, pow!" He let go of my waist for a second and acted mind-blown.
