Zara's Pov

I woke up with a strange feeling. It was a kind of excitement mixed with dread.

Then I remembered about the excitement. I was meeting Ryder in Hogsmeade today! But what was the dread about?

Oh yeah. I was going to do a crazy mission tomorrow night to try and prove that not all Slytherins are bad. For some reason, I had an uneasy feeling about going there... as if something bad was going to happen. I had felt like this before a few times, like when Remus was having his Thestral licence test and fell asleep due to late - night last minute studying and managed to fall off. And the time when we went to watch the Quidditch World Cup and the stadium was burnt down by a badly trained young dragon that was supposed to be the Welsh team's mascot.

This feeling was unnerving me, since it had always turned bad, but this time, maybe I was imagining it.

My thoughts came to an abrupt stop as something fluffy flew towards me and collided with my head. I picked up the fluffy thing to see that it was Nargle, my Screech Owl. After recovering herself, she hopped about impatiently, holding out her leg which had a letter attached to it. Before I could untie it, Nargle lost her balance and toppled off the side of my bed.

"That's what you get if you're going to be so impatient," I scolded her, trying not to laugh, while Carrie, who had apparently woken up was clutching her sides, giggling away.

I bent over and retrieved my flustered looking owl from the floor, and she offered me her leg once again. This time I successfully removed the letter and began to unfold it.

Upon seeing that I had got the letter, Nargle flew out of the door to the owlery, making sure to claw Carrie in the face on her way out.

It looked sore, but Carrie just laughed and said it made her face look cooler. "But anyway," she said, "what does you're letter say?"

I looked down at the crumpled piece of parchment written in Remus' hasty scrawl and began to read.

Dear Zara,
I myself don't have much news, except for the fact that I MADE IT INTO PUDDLEMERE UNITED! Have I told you that yet? I can't remember.

"Only about 10,000 times," I said with a laugh, before continuing to read.

Dad got promoted to Head Auror, because grandad decided to retire. Mum is getting thinner and paler and keeps muttering 'The time is upon us.' Xoch is worried about her, but I think that she's just gone mad. Ever since Brianna started Hogwarts two years ago, things have been very quiet, mum says. I last visited mum and dad a month ago and ever since Scarlett and I have started flatting in Diagon Alley, things have been great for me. I'm thinking of proposing to her soon actually, and if she says yes, you are going to be a bridesmaid, I don't care what dad says. Anyway, that's all from me.

Hope to see you soon,

Remus.

And then the letter went on in Xochital's neat handwriting.

Hey Zara,
How's school? I hope you are enjoying relaxed life as a fourth year, before you have to go into manic studying for your OWLs next year.

I'm so pleased that you wrote to me after all this time, you're letter made me decide that it was silly holding a grudge against you because of your house.

I'm currently attending Moristive's Wizarding University where I'm studying medicine etc. I hope to work at St Mungos in the near future. In other news, Joel has been promoted in the Department of Mysteries after having worked there for a year and a half.

Now, about this 'hot' guy Ryder-

I stopped suddenly, blushing furiously. Carrie ran over and tried to snatch the parchment from me.

"What?!" She cried delightedly. "What does it say?" I ran out of our dormitory and into the common room, where I quickly read the rest of the letter before using a Banishing charm to send it to my chest of drawers. "Where is it?" Carrie asked as she found me in the crowd, panting slightly. I shrugged noncommittally.

"In the fire," I said before running back to my dormitory. Carrie overtook me and when I entered the room, she greeted me with a pillow to my face. I ran over to my bed, picked up my own one and we began an awesome pillow fight, which highly irritated the other girls that were trying to sleep.

The fight came to an abrupt stop when Carrie began to charge towards me. To get out of the way, I grabbed onto one of the curtains that surrounded my bed and swung on it, hoping to land gracefully behind Carrie. Instead, it ripped and by accidental magic, I shot across the room and landed in Isabel's cat's litter tray. She did not look amused, but that didn't stop Carrie from nearly dying of laughter. I soon found that I was laughing too. It felt good, being this happy, I decided, as all thoughts about tomorrow night left my head.
