epilogue

it was graduation day. i had prepared a special speech for everyone who helped me through high school. i put on my cap and gown and looked in the mirror. a tear started running down my face i wiped it quickly. then, my computer chimed. i was so nervous. i had applied to princeton a couple weeks ago, but i was deferred and then wait listed. it was time to see if i had gotten in. i turned the computer around.

i got in!! TO PRINCETON!! i jumped up and down and screamed of happiness. i gotta call kai.
~kai:hey wsp~

"KAI! I GOT INTO PRINCETON!!"

~kai: oh my gosh really?? congrats i'm so proud of you!! come over after graduation. later!~

i hung up with a smile. my mother and father hopped into the car and drove me to graduation. me, kai, and our friends hung out for most of it, but then it was my turn to make a speech since i was valedictorian. i stepped onto the platform.

"teachers,parents,and students. it is my honor to be your valedictorian this year. high school has taught me so many things. one of them is to let go and live your life, don't care what others think as long as YOU are happy."

i glanced at kai for a second.

"make memories while you can!! me personally?? i waited till junior year to make all my memories. don't make the same mistake that i did. live life to the fullest. never stop dreaming. be yourself, don't spend your life living up to someone else's expectations. if they don't love you the way you are, they don't love you. basically, be bold and never stop believing in yourself."

i stepped off the podium and took my diploma. somehow, my speech got a standing ovation!! i grinned from ear to ear and sat back down in the crowd with my friends. they all congratulated me.

later, after everyone had been given their diploma, it was time to flip our hats. we finally flipped them on the count of 3. my friends and i laughed and kai kissed me on the cheek.

we all drove back to kai's house and drank. we watched some movies and played truth or drink. it was fun to feel like an adult now, but all this princeton stuff was stressing me out. in a couple months, i would have to leave kai.

i shook my head, trying to shake off the urge to cry. yeonjun noticed.

yeonjun:"y/n, why so sad? you look like you could cry right now."

that's all it took for me to burst into tears in kai's arms. everyone was so confused at first, but i told them what happened and they understood.

kai:"oh y/n my love, even if we're far apart, i'll still love you the same. and it's just four short years in new jersey!!" he smiled.

"wait.. kai. what are you and the boys gonna do??"

soobin:"we don't know yet. we'll see what opportunities come along." the guys smiled.

i cuddled with kai, probably for the last time before summer started, and we would both be too busy to talk. i fell asleep on him, smiling.
