Monica felt a profound sense of guilt weighing heavily on her. She had unknowingly invited a man into their home who had mentally and physically abused Andreas, and the remorse consumed her. If only she had been aware of the terrible things Andreas' dad had done, she would have immediately slammed the door in that man's face. But it was too late; she had already allowed him in, shared a meal with him, and unintentionally triggered Andreas' emotional outburst.
As Andreas still hadn't returned home, Monica sat in the quiet living room. She had decorated the house with care, placing roses on the floor, lighting sweet-scented candles in every room, and hanging large balloons bearing the word "sorry." Nervousness gripped her as she desperately wanted to make amends. When she heard the doorknob turn and saw the door crack open, spilling light onto the carpet, Monica immediately stood up, calling out, "Andreas!"
Andreas entered the house looking disheveled. His hair was tangled, dark circles hung beneath his eyes, and the smell of alcohol clung to him. Monica had never seen him in such a state, and a lump formed in her throat. Andreas paused to face her, sighing heavily and dropping his keys to the side. "Monica," he said, running a weary hand through his dark hair. "I'm sorry." But Monica shook her head and approached him, enveloping him in a tight hug, tears streaming down her face. "No, I'm sorry," she sniffled. "I should have never let him in."
"But you had no idea," he tried to explain. Monica held onto Andreas even tighter, silencing him, and looked into his eyes, her own filled with tears. "I should have confronted him, thrown something in his face, kicked him out, and threatened to call the police if he didn't leave," she said, her voice trembling with frustration and regret. "But I genuinely mean it, Andreas. I had no knowledge of the pain he caused you, and I'm truly sorry from the bottom of my heart!" Her voice cracked, and she broke down sobbing. Andreas held her close, soothing her with gentle shushes. "No, no, don't blame yourself, Monica. You didn't know, and I should have told you instead of exploding like that. So, I'm sorry too."
Finally, he kissed the top of her head, his gaze wandering around the room, noticing the romantic decorations scattered about. Lowering his arms, he smirked slightly, changing the subject and asked, "What's all this?" Monica followed his gaze and gestured around. "It's just a little something to show you how much I love you, babe." Andreas bit his lip, and his hands instinctively found their way to her ass. "I like it," he said, his voice lowering seductively. "It's cute."
Though he tried to lighten the mood, Monica still felt terrible. She took hold of Andreas' hand and began showing him around. They stopped in the kitchen, where she had prepared a delicious meal of spaghetti with garlic bread and a side of cheesecake. Two glasses of wine sat on the table, accompanied by jazz music playing softly in the background. Avoiding his gaze, Monica swallowed nervously. "I thought of cooking something for you as an apology," she said.
Andreas looked genuinely surprised and stepped closer. "Wow! You did all this?" He then tilted his head to meet Monica's eyes, but she averted her gaze, looking down at the floor. Grimacing, Andreas gently cupped her face and lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. "Relax," he said, his tone softened. "I'm not angry anymore, and I forgive you, my queen. Now, loosen up and let me see that beautiful smile of yours. I've missed it."
Monica's face lit up with a wide grin, revealing her charming dimples, and Andreas couldn't resist the urge to kiss her again. He adored this woman, and it pained him to see her upset. Monica was completely unaware of the abuse he endured from his father, and she certainly hadn't intended to cause any drama. She had unintentionally stumbled into a personal matter, and Andreas realized he had lashed out at the wrong person in his moment of anger. He should have directed his fury towards his father, not the woman who still made his heart flutter with emotions.
