"Your grace?" Lucia questioned, Lyonel told Lucia what had happened and Viserys had requested to be alone, for the past moon to adjust alone and miserable. Lucia knew that would not help him. Because she had wanted to do the same and Larys wouldnt let her. He needed company, someone to encourage him like she had Larys."I dont wish for companionship." viserys murmured.
"To bad." Lucia countered closing the door behind her. Viserys shifted in bed when he saw her.
"Lady Lucia-"
"I lost my leg when I was young, it was taken from me, your arm was taken from you. I thought we might have a talk, cripple to cripple." Lucia offered and viserys choked out a laugh.
"How do you find the strength to smile?" Viserys questioned weakly, he had loved her smile for ages.
"I fake it." Lucia remarked. "For moons after, hell years after, I still faked it at times because I didnt want everyone else to feel bad, to treat me differently. I wanted to be normal... I still do." she admitted softly. Viserys stared at his hand as she held tight to it.
"I still feel it." Viserys remarked softly.
"I know. Phantom feelings." Lucia agreed. "I can't tell you how many times i got out of bed and crumbled to the floor thinking my leg was there. I can't tell you how many times Larys picked me up off the floor sobbing." Lucia added, fighting back tears at the memory itself.
"You would never know, you fake it well."
"You dont have to fake happiness around me though. I understand Viserys. I understand your pain, I want to help you like my brothers helped me." Lucia declared.
"You are so sweet Lucia." viserys remarked still holding onto her hand. "So sweet."
"I'm here for you, your grace. If you just need someone to talk to, or... someone to... not treat you like you are broken, talk to you without little kid gloves." Lucia offered. "I'm here."
"I would like that... I would love that." Viserys corrected, tears falling from his eyes, he didnt want to let go of her.
"How about a walk today, its gross in here." Lucia decided looking around. "No offense." She added. Viserys chuckled giving her hand a squeeze.
"We are starting the blunt conversation now." Viserys realized.
"Come on, you will like the fresh air," Lucia assured him.
"Where is Lucia?" Lyonel questioned.
"Visiting the king again." Harwin answered. Larys and Lyonel stared back at him, confusion littered their faces.
"The king?" Larys questioned confused and a little bit flustered.
"He lost an arm and Lu is giving him some strength. She knows what its like." Harwin offered. "You requested she visit him, father." Harwin reminded him.
"Yes but... thats wonderful." Lyonel agreed as Larys moved to the window seeing viserys and lucia in the courtyard.
Larys face pinched as Viserys laughed out, he wondered what they were talking about, what Lucia had said, why she was smiling like that at Viserys.
"If you can't find a little humor in tragedy, life will kick your ass." Lucia remarked honestly.
"Thank you for always making me smile Lucia." Viserys remarked pressing a kiss to her hand.
"I like spending time with you, Viserys." Lucia admitted.
"You do?" Viserys questioned thinking of his own wife, who didnt love him, who didnt spend any time with him and yet Lucia offered kindness and friendship daily, whenever viserys requested, sometimes when he didnt even request, she just showed up ready to be a friend.
Viserys had always thought that a good relationship should start with friendship. His council showed that. He had known Beesbuy for years and LYonel had offered him council with no wants for himself in return for years before he became hand. Viserys knew Lucia didnt want anything in return and yet he wanted to give her something to show just how much she meant to him.
