Jay's POV
I groan, screwing my eyes shut as I lift my stiff neck slowly. I'm sitting against something, and I lean my head back as I try to fall back asleep.
But the light of the room and the uncomfortable thing I'm sitting on makes it impossible. Reluctantly, I open my eyes.
Oh yeah.
I squint up at the abnormally bright light bulb hanging from the ceiling of the room I'm in.
I'm sitting up, my back against the wall while I sit on a concrete floor. I grimace from the dirt on it, before noticing my hands are still zip-tied together by the wrists. Only they've added an extra two.
I'm quite insulted actually. I've trained all my life for this life, yet the first time I ever get kidnapped, I'm tied with zip ties. Not handcuffs or even rope- plastic zip-ties you buy from the supermarket.
Damn, well this is humbling.
At least they tied my ankles as well.
I then spot Talia lying on the floor beside me, still asleep. Her wrists and ankles are tied as well.
We seem to be in some type of basement since there are about a dozen steps leading up to the door straight ahead.
The door suddenly opens. It closes immediately again while a person walks down the stairs.
It's the man from before, and his grin is back.
"Jayson Hendrix" He grins, and I hum. "That's my name, yes" I nod, and he chuckles.
"Abigail will be so happy to hear we have you. She's quite pissed at you, you know?" He chuckles again, taking a slow step towards me.
"How unfortunate," I say, and he shakes his head while his lips fall into a line. He crouches down in front of me. "Abigail is not a woman you want to piss off. Ever" He whispers, pulling up the sleeve of his shirt, revealing his forearm that's covers completely in bad burn scars.
"Are you looking for sympathy?" I ask, tilting my head to the side as a smile forms on my lips. "Would you like a hug?" I coo, and he scoffs, standing back up.
"Keeping that attitude. Abigail will love it" He mutters. "She's bringing Griffin as well-" He lets out a loud laugh. "You pissed off the wrong people kid".
I smile, genuinely amused that these people think they're a threat. Issac sent me here to keep me busy. Not because he's worried this family with enflamed egos will do shit.
He said he suspected they'd grow to be a threat in the future- he didn't mean the near future. If this family has luck on their side, in fifty years they might grow to be a small annoyance to us. Nothing more.
"Griffin?" I repeat, and he hums. "You pissed them both off- I gotta admit, I pity you" He snorts, and I hum.
Leon Robinson is the leader of the Robinson crime family. He has three siblings, and four cousins- Cole, and Abigail who are siblings, and Alfred and Griffin, who are twins.
Cole and Alfred are dead, so Griffin is probably out for my blood as well. Abigail will be dead by the end of next month if everything goes according to plan, and next will be Griffin. And that will be all the cousins dead.
"Now I've been ordered to start ripping off fingernails as soon as your awake so-" He laughs again as he jogs up the stairs. "Let me go grab my tools". He bangs on the door five times, and it opens before he leaves.
I glance at the watch on my wrist. Seventeen minutes past eight. I haven't been out long then.
I'd say we have five minutes before that weirdo returns.
