Jay's POV

I stare at myself through the mirror, my eyes scanning to make sure I look okay.

I adjust my tie for the millionth time. A nervous quirk.

I then pat my suit pocket, nodding to myself when I feel the little box inside.

"Jay, will you put this necklace on for me?"

I turn, just in time to see Talia walk into the closet, frowning a bit at the gold necklace in her hands.

Wearing a red silk dress that hugs her body in all the best ways, I'm unable to look away as she walks over. The dress reaches down to her ankles, and a slit runs up her left thigh, showing her skin.

Her natural hair is out in a neat little afro, the thick curls framing her face perfectly.

"Jesus Christ.." I mumble, looking her up and down.

Talia laughs, wrapping her arms around my neck and interlocking her fingers. I place one hand on her hip, the other on her exposed thigh as I finally manage to tear my eyes off her and meet her gorgeous eyes.

"Look good?" Talia whispers, a smile painted on her lips. I lean my forehead against hers. "Saying you looked good right now would be an insult" I mumble, causing her to laugh again.

She then hands me the necklace and turns around.

I put it around her neck, then lock the small clasp. Resting my hands on her bare upper arms, I lean and gently kiss her neck. "You look outstanding Talia" I whisper against her skin, close to her ear.

"Well you look very handsome" She whispers back, making me smile. She then walks away. "We need to leave now if we don't want to be late" She calls out as she walks out of the closet and into our bedroom.

I look in the mirror, adjusting my tie one last time before I follow her out.

"Why don't we go out more?" Talia mumbles as the waiter walks away with our plates.

"The effort," I say simply, making Talia smile. "True. But the food makes it somewhat worth it" She says, to which I chuckle.

In all honesty, I avoid going out as much as possible. I was homeschooled as a kid, and anything we needed, we had people to go get it for us. So most of my childhood was spent isolated at home.

I'm not very used to going out to restaurants and eating food in a public setting. Of course, I was dragged along to business events as a kid, but that was usually only once or twice a year.

I look around, unable to help feeling a bit uneasy.

I have around a dozen guards hiding around the restaurants, ones that Talia doesn't know about. I've recently taken out Leon Robinson's younger brother, and I doubt he'll be too happy about it.

That's another small reason why me and Talia rarely leave the house. It's not always safe.

A waiter comes, asking what we'd like for dessert. Talia orders for the both of us and when the waiter walks off yet again, Talia stands up.

"Let's go look at the view," She tells me, motioning towards the balcony on the other side of the restaurant. I stand up wordlessly, and she smiles, interlocking her fingers with mine as she leads us to the balcony.

It's quiet out here, away from the few other guests in the restaurant.

The balcony overlooks a small little river, with trees and lights surrounding it. You can hear the faint sound of chatter coming from beneath us on the ground floor.
