"Family?" Murder drones X male reader

Chapter 1

I walked around the left over remains from my former colleague's massacre "Why the murder of innocents, they aren't corrupt" I thought collecting oil in a can, as much as I hated killing drones I still needed oil to survive. I had basically exiled myself from my squad as everyone hated me J was absolutely horrible V was just as bad and N just kissed ass to the pair of them. I hated the trio with a passion but knew I couldn't do anything to stop them so I left, I shut my location off and set my vitals to deceased so it looked like I cooked up in the sun. I finished collecting the oil and was about to leave when I heard some noise, my curiosity got the better of me and I went to investigate to see what it was, I had to move some rubble to find the source of the noise but it was a saddening sight as there was a dead worker and a baby. Who I presumed was there father had been crushed under the rubble but the baby managed to survive and was now alone, she whined a little so I picked her up cradling her in my arms "Shh it's okay" I say but I could tell just from holding her she was freezing cold so I took my jacket off and wrapped her in it, she whined a little more "What's wrong? Are you hungry? Wait you don't have a mouth" I say looking her over, just then I heard a gasp and looked up to see another worker covering her mouth, she had purple eyes like the baby did "Hello, is she yours?" I asked, the worker nodded and was shaking fearfully "Hey don't worry, here" I say extending my hands to give her her child back. She slowly came forwards and snatched her back cradling her as I did, she looked her child over before looking back at me "Why are you different?" She asked "Hmm? Oh not killing right... I'm not blindly loyal to the company that sent us here. They forgot to reform my memory so I'm still the same as when I was a worker" I say "So where did you find her?" She asked "Right here?" I say gesturing behind me "So if she was here then, where's my husband?" She asked "Oh.... Right" I say stepping aside, she instantly noticed the dead worker crushed under the rubble "Khan..." she says dropping to her knees bursting into tears. I suddenly got a notification from my map and upon checking it saw the trio were coming this way. I grabbed the worker and child pulling them into the rubble reburied us in the rubble and holding the worker close "Shhh, keep quiet or we'll be dead!" I whispered as she sunk her head into my chest. I turned on my lights and screen off including the bulbs on my head. I could still see but didn't give off any glow. I heard the three landed but couldn't see them given we were buried "Anything left?" N asked looking around "I don't know you tell me!" J says I heard a loud clang which was J hitting him, "Think they'll be back?" V asked "Pff doubt it, I think we got the entire colony here, we flushed that bunker pretty good" J says "So what are we even doing back here then?" N asked "Ugh I've already told you four times moron! Collect all the oil!" J shouts before hitting him again, I heard someone get close to the rubble "I miss when Y/n was here, he'd take the beatings instead" N says making me want to lash out at him but I couldn't, We waited around patiently and before long they left, I waited till they were off my map to come out "Alright there gone" I say letting the worker go "Why did you hide as well?" She asked "I'm a traitor to the company, they'll kill me on sight but as far as they know I'm dead" I say "Oh, because you don't kill?" She asked "Yeah, do you have a safe place to stay?" I asked "N no" she says hesitantly "Look you have a child and from what I've seen a noisy one at that, I have a place you can stay its far away from there patrol areas and it's already been cleared out so they won't be there ever again" I say "I don't know" she says before looking back at the tunnel I'm assuming she hid in "Is there more workers there?" I asked "No... not anymore" she says somberly. I took a few steps grabbing her again "Just come and stay for awhile, relax and mourn after that I'll take you where ever you want to go" I say "Okay" she says again rather somber, I spread my wings and flew to my home which was located near an old factory in a basement. I got us inside and closed the door locking it which made the worker nervous "Why are you locking it? And why isn't your face back?" She asked "Huh? Oh right!" I say turning all my things on again my yellow glow returning "And to keep the sun and wind out if a storm rolls in, I'll die if I'm in the sun" I say "Oh" she says I guided her over to the couch I had down here and sat her down "There safe and sound" I say looking down at the baby still in her arms but she was looking at me and it made me smile "I think someone's a little curious" I say, the worker looked down seeing her child stare at me "She's never seen one of your kind so close before" she says "And what would her name be?" I asked "Uzi, her names Uzi and I'm Nori" she says "I'm Y/n, I'd say I'm glad to meet you but I wish it was under better circumstances" I say sitting down next to her "I still can't believe Khans dead..." she says tearing up again, I put my arm around her "It's okay, let it out" I say, she sniffles a few times before sobbing. Uzi also got upset crying loudly which seemed to kick Noris parental instinct in since she stopped crying to try and comfort Uzi "Shh it's okay, moms here" she says snuggling her, I pulled Nori in a little "Why don't we try and get her to bed so you can mourn properly" I say "Everyone mourns differently!" she snaps "I didn't mean it like that, there's no wrong way, I meant as in you can do it without having to worry about her" I say. She looked at me then down at Uzi "I've had a long day and the worst day of my life" she says "I know, and I can't imagine what going through your head right now. But I know your hurting, and even tho we've just met I'm here if you need anything" I say "Do you have any blankets?" She asked "Yeah I got a few and even a small clean one for her" I say getting up and walking over to a chest and grabbed them. I brought them back over and handed them to Nori who unwrapped Uzi from her wet and oil soaked one to the soft and dry one, Uzi seemed to enjoy the soft blanket as she made a happy face and joyful giggles "Glad someone's happy" she says rocking her. Nori and I continued to make small talk but it was mostly awkward since she kinda blamed my kind for everything that's happened today which I didn't blame her for but once Uzi was asleep I made a makeshift crib for her out of an old container with no lid and a pile of blankets I used as bedding. I set the crib close to the couch since that's where Nori was going to sleep but before she did I pulled her to another room so she could let her emotions out, she cried for hours and I began to see the sun peaking under the door. I pulled her into a hug and once she got her emotions out and calmed down she took a deep breath "Thanks Y/n, for everything I think I'll be leaving tomorrow morning" she says which irked me a little "Nori, I know I said I'd take you where ever you wanted after tonight and if your truly set on leaving I will, but I think it's in your best interests to stay here" I say "Why?" She asked "Its safe, Uzi is noisy and being out and about that's a danger and risk to you and her. It's better to stay here, you know she can be loud, she has a bed and warmth and you both got me. I'll fight if I have to to keep you both safe" I say "Why would you fight for us?" She asked "I've been alone for awhile now, and I'll have to fight even if your not here so why not fight for someone who has a chance at family" I say "I... its... it's all so much" she says "Then stay Nori, you and your daughter are safe here. You can clear your head and relax, you can be a mother and play with her instead of worrying about everything" I say, Nori didn't say anything but nodded before heading to the couch I followed her and once she laid down and pulled the blanket over her "Do you need anything else?" I asked "N no, you've done enough already" she says when suddenly there was a noise and Uzi was awake again, Nori went to get up but I stopped her "Laid down and get comfortable" I say "But she'll start to cry!" She protests. I smiled and peaked into the crib and Uzi looked at me not making a sound "I'll get her back to sleep" I say "What!? Your not taking her to your room!" She shouts making Uzi upset "Shhh" I say. I started to sing a lullaby to Uzi in a very soft tone much to Noris surprise and soon Uzi was sound asleep again "See I can put a child to sleep" I say but saw Nori was also asleep so I silently left the room heading to mine wrapping my tail on a pipe and hanging upside down drifting off to sleep.
