Chapter 2

It had been a few years since I first began my new life with the workers and I was happy, I helped Nori raise Uzi as a father figure to her but Nori and I weren't together, she just didn't want another relationship and I was more then happy to keep it that way for her but as it currently stood I was waiting in the living room for Nori to get Uzi ready for her first day of school, it didn't take her long before Uzi came running out jumping into my arms "Y/N!!" She cheers giving me a hug "Hey princess! Ready to head to school!" I asked swinging her around "Yeah!" She says smiling, I set her on my shoulders exiting the apartment and started towards the school area. Nori stayed behind to do some chores as she was rather emotional when it came to these things, she cried for a few hours when Uzi first spoke so she was more then happy to stay at home having gotten her photos and such already with her, as we walked down the hallways we got hi's and hellos from just about everyone since everyone knew me and knew I was Uzi's dad now. As I walked Uzi played with my hair and sang a song making me smile "Excited?" I asked "Yeah! So many new friends to make!" She says making me chuckle "Now what did I teach you about others?" I asked "Always be kind and use my manners" she says "What are your manners?" I asked "Y/n...." She whines "I'm just making sure I did a good job teaching you" I say "Please and thank you" she says "Good, oh look who it is!" I say rounding a corner and seeing Yeva, Yuri and Doll standing there Doll not wanting to go to school clutching into her fathers leg tightly, I set Uzi down and she ran over to Yeva grabbing her hand "Hi auntie!!" She says as Yeva smiled looking down at her picking her up "Hello sweetie! How are you doing?" She ask "Super great!" She says hugging her, I walked over to Yuri and knelt down "Hey Pumpkin!" I say getting Dolls attention, Doll had become very shy and didn't like being alone without her parents or Nori and I there so school was going to be tough for her, she look at me still holding onto Yuri's leg "Hug?" I say extending my arms, she reached out grabbed three of my fingers and pulling her closer into my arms I picked her up giving her a hug "Are you ready for school?" I asked, she shook her head no "Why not? There are so many friends you can make! And loads of fun things to do!" I say trying to get her more on board with it, but she shook her head no and tightened her grip on me. The teacher came out into the hallway "Hello these two must be my new students!" She says "Hey Lora, yes but it's kinda backwards" Yuri says "I can tell!" She says seeing Yeva holding Uzi and me holding Doll. She looked at Doll who tried to hide pulling my jacket collar up "Aww is someone a little shy?" She asked "Yeah, someone doesn't want to leave family" I say "Aww it'll only be for a few hours, come on let's find something you enjoy" she says reaching for Doll who just tried to hide more "Would it be possible for me to help out? If I'm around in the class she might be more outgoing once she gets comfortable" I asked "Oh that would be wonderful! I know the kids will be all excited about there new environment and all the people to play with" she says. I looked down at Doll "Hear that! You can spend the day with me!" I say as a tiny smile appeared on her face "Can you two tell Nori that I'm here for the day?" I asked "Yeah sure! Oh we can start out scrap book!" Yeva says "Well then let's get the fist day of school picture then!" I say grabbing Uzi and setting her on my right shoulder and moving Doll to my left one, we got next to Lora and Yeva snapped a picture. I set Uzi down as we got into the classroom and she ran off, I went to set Doll down as well but she wouldn't let go "You can hold my hand Doll" I say making her let go and take my hand.

Lora got class started and they got to introduce themselves but Doll wasn't having it and was quite the entire time it was her turn, I eventually caved and introduced her and myself to the kids. I quickly realized as Lora taught that the school was more of a two hours of learning the rest is play and nap time, I sat at the back of the classroom while the kids played different games with one another and Doll was still holding onto me, as I sat there I heard something click behind me and something touching my stinger, I snapped it out so I could see it and found a little girl holding onto it "Hello!" She says hanging on to it, I grabbed her and set her on the ground "That's not something to play with" I say clicking my cover on my stinger closed again, when Uzi first started walking around I had made a sheath of sorts to cover my stinger so she didn't poke herself. "But it looks fun!" The girl whines "It can hurt you really really badly, please don't touch it again" I say "Okay... hey!" She says looking at Doll who got startled and hid in my jacket "She's a little shy, It's okay Doll. She just wants to be friends" I say pulling Doll out from my jacket "Hi I'm Lizzy!" She says getting close to Doll who sunk into me trying to get away from her but I pushed her towards her, Lizzy grabbed her hand and was about to pull her away "Lizzy don't take her too far, she's still adjusting to not having family around, so how about staying nearby?" I say "Sure!" She says as she pulled down to a nearby table. I smiled and rested my head for a moment before I saw another girl hiding in the corner of the room drawing something on the floor, I got up and walked over to see what she was drawing "I don't think your aloud to draw on the floor" I say kneeling down looking at her drawing making her jump "S sorry" she says "Oh don't worry about it, just don't draw on the floor again" I say seeing her nervous look "What can I draw on then?" She asked I thought for a moment before I got an idea and sat down next to her and held my arm out "All that white is just so bland, wanna decorate it some?" I asked she look at my arm then back at me and smiled grabbing her markers and began drawing on my arm "So what's your name?" I asked "Rebecca" she says "Well Rebecca I'm Y/n, Uzis.... Dad per say" I say as despite everything I've done over the years Uzi still never called me dad only ever Y/n, Nori asked her about it and Uzi said she remembered Khan and knew I wasn't her actual father. Nori thought I would have been hurt by this answer but I wasn't even if Uzi didn't see me as her dad I'd still treat and raise her as my own daughter. I watched as Rebecca drew on me when I felt someone run in and jump onto my lap "Y/n!" Uzi cheered looking up at me "Hey princess! Having fun?" I asked "Yeah! *Yawns* it's great..." she says snuggling in and getting comfortable "This isn't the place for that Uzi" I say moving her out of my lap "Why not!" She whines "We're in a public place, if we were at home it would be different" I say as she rested against the wall beside me "Who are you?" She asked Rebecca "I'm Rebecca, you have a cool dad!" She says "He's not my actual dad" she says "He's not?" She asked not looking up from my arm "No! He's just filling in till he comes back!" She says, I knew Uzi didn't understand that Khan was dead and not coming back. In a weird way I found it adorable as she was so innocent, soon most of the kids were napping aside from Rebecca who was still drawing on my arm and Doll who was just snuggled up to me watching her draw as Lizzy was sleeping next to us and Uzi was on the other side also sleeping. Lora walked over having some down time with everyone sleeping or doing something to keep them occupied "You look cozy" she says seeing them all around me "Mmm it's peaceful so I don't mind" I say as Rebecca crawled over my legs to start drawing on my other arm "I'm assuming your okay with her drawing on you?" She asked "Yep! I don't mind" I say. Lora knelt down and looked at Doll "How was your first day of school?" She asked, Doll gave her a look "Come on Doll, she's your teacher for the next few years till your a teenager. Say a few words pumpkin" I say moving my arm around her "Y yeah" she says quietly "I see you and Lizzy get along, did you know her dad is the principal of the school?" She asked "No" she says "Yes he's the principal and a wonderful person, he'll probably come by sometime" she says. Doll nodded and rested against my side again "She's making progress, I think Lizzy's outgoing attitude will help" I say "Most likely, and what about you Rebecca? Did you enjoy your first day?" She asked "Yeah! I'm having fun!" She says drawing a flower on my arm. We continued to chat for awhile till the bell rang signaling the end of the day so I got up carrying Uzi who slept through the bell some how, I met Yeva outside the door and handed Doll off to her "I'd stay and chat but someone is a little tired" I say "See you tomorrow" she says carrying Doll away.

We arrived back home and got inside, I took Uzi to her room and set her down in the bed kissing her forehead and pulling the blanket over her before leaving at heading to the couch to crash for awhile but was interrupted by Nori "So your a teacher now?" She asked "I guess... I mostly keep the kids busy and work with a few who need some extra attention" I say "That's kind of you" she says "Mmm just helping out" I say when she noticed the drawings on my arm "What's with the art work?" She asked "Oh one of the kids liked drawing and was drawing on the floor, given she didn't have anything else to draw on and I don't overly like the massive amount of white on my arms I let her draw on them" I say "Aww aren't you just sweet, you really are a parent at heart" she says "The past few years with Uzi didn't teach you that already?" I asked "I know I know and I truly am grateful for all that you've done for her, even if she doesn't recognize you as her father" she says getting a little upset "We've been over this Nori, it's just her young age she's just innocent right now. She'll come around in her later years" I say "The teenager years are going to be hard" she says "Maybe but we still have awhile till we get there so let's enjoy these innocent and joyful years" I say as she sat down next to me "I suppose your right, guess I'm a house mom now anyways" she says "Oh?" I asked "Yeah, if your working at the school then someone needs to keep the house in order" she says "Oh don't feel like you have to stay at home, you can always go out and get a job as well" I say "Ahh I'm happy staying at home let's me get things done for the weekends so I can spend them with you and Uzi" she says. I put an arm around her giving her a small hug "So what do you want for dinner?" I asked getting up "Sit down, you've worked all day I've spent my day scrap booking with Yeva, I'll cook but there is some fresh oil in the fridge" she says "Oh? Where did you get oil? You didn't go outside and collect it did you!?" I asked slightly nervous "Of course not! Yuri and a few of the other WDF found some old machines that had oil in them, there should be enough to keep you up for a while" she says "I'll thank them next time I see them" I say walking to the fridge and grabbing one. Nori went into the kitchen and grabbed somethings to start cooking, I walked over to her and set the van down leaning on the counter next to her "So did you get any pictures?" She asked, I smiled and flipped my screen revealing I had several pictures for her and Yeva making her smile, she continued to cook while I drank from my can of oil till we heard a noise and saw Uzi walking into the kitchen dragging the blanket from when she was just a baby that I gave her "Morning princess, sleep well?" I asked as she walked over and jumped at my feet wanting up, I knelt down picking her up but she had a disturbed look "I had a bad dream..." she says "Well now your safe" I say as she snuggled into me, Nori set the spoon down and walked over I knelt down a little so she could give Uzi a kiss on her cheek before going back to cooking. I walked over to the table and sat down pulling Uzis chair up next to mine and set her down, Nori brought plates of food over to us "Thanks, but you could have told me dinner was ready, I can still serve myself" I say grabbing my plate from her, I watched as she sat down next to Uzi and help her eat letting her food get cold in the process as I ate "Nori she can feed herself" I say as this wasn't something she usually did "I just want to spend sometime with my little girl" she says. We finished eating and I grabbed my plate and Uzi's as Nori was still eating, I began washing the dishes and soon Nori brought hers over, I took it from her and washed it before setting it on the drying rack as she left the kitchen. I finished up with the dishes and dried my hands off and went to the living room and saw Nori sitting on the couch watching Uzi play but she had a rather distant look on her face, I walked over and sat down next to her putting my arm around her. We may not have been a couple but I still cared and looked after her if she had issues or stints of depression due to her seeing the future given her powers of sorts "What did you see this time?" I asked "Didn't really see anything but Uzi, N, V, J there intertwined" she says. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath still resenting the trio "Do you know how?" I asked "Ones dead, Uzis a leader and N's by her side" she says "I'll be dead before I let him anywheres near her" I say "That's why I'm worried, what if you are?" She asked "Then I will be, and you know I'll die to keep the both of you safe" I say. She suddenly rested her head on my shoulders "Then I want to cherish this time" she says. I smiled as we watched Uzi continued to play with her things.
