Chapter 6

As the week dragged on with everyone trying to return to normal but things only got worse as people began disappearing, I was sitting in the living room with Nori next to me worried given the situation "What should we do? People are going missing and there been nothing!" She says "I know Doll! Uzi! Come here please!" I shout I heard the doors open before they came into view "Yeah dad?" Doll asked "Both of you are to stay here till these disappearances are solved, no one leaves this house but me" I say "What but school!" Uzi says "Don't worry about it, I'll have a word with Lizzy's dad about keeping school closed till it gets solved" I say getting up "Okay be safe" Doll says while Uzi had a concerned look on her face "Before I go, Uzi give me all the scrap metal you have" I say "Why?" She asked "From what I've heard it seems the vents are how people are disappearing so I'm blocking all of ours till this gets solved" I say. She nodded and I followed her to her room we began to gather scrap and she asked me a question "What do you think the cause of this is?" She asked "I don't know, but it doesn't really matter, it needs to be stopped" I say as I flew up to the ceiling and covered the vent with so metal "So are you going to look for it?" She asked "Yes I'll be helping in the search to stop whoever is doing this" I say "Please be safe" she says as I landed on the floor again "I will princess" I say giving her a hug "Okay dad, do you want some help putting metal up?" She asked "No you and your sister avoid the vents" I say "Okay" she says "Actually there aren't any vents in your mother and I's room. The three of you will wait there till I seal this place up" I say "Oh okay" she says heading there, I went back to the living room and say Nori sitting with Doll "Both of you to our room" I say "What?" Nori asked "There are no vents in there, you'll be safe till I get this place locked up" I say "Oh okay" she says getting up with Doll and heading there. I went around the apartment and sealed all our vents but upon getting the one in Dolls room I noticed a few mirrors broken "Just like Nori, perhaps we should have a family sit down" I say. I left the room and got back out into our living room "All clear!" I shout. They came out "So your off to figure this out?" Nori asked "Not yet, I'll get N to help me out, two is better then one. And I need to talk to the principal to postpone school until we get it solved" I say "Okay be safe dear" Nori says "I will, I always have" I say before leaving.

I arrived at the principals place and knocked on the door but Lizzy opened it "Oh hi Mr Doorman" she says "Lizzy as I've said you can call me Y/n outside of school, but is you dad here? I wanted to talk to him" I asked "Yes come in" she says, he in the room on the left at the end of the hallway" she says "Thanks" I say, I arrived at the door and knocked "Y yeah?" I hear inside. I opened the door and found him sitting on his bed rather distrot "Uhh are you okay?" I asked "Do I look okay?" He asked "what's happened sir?" I asked "Its Ellen she's been ill and isn't getting better, and now with the disappearance and school starting again it's just so much" he says "Well I came to talk to you about postponing school coming back in till this disappearance thing is solved and ended, with that many people it'll be too easy for someone to get taken and go unnoticed. It's just not worth the risk" I say "But there education!" He says "I know sir, and with this break now we can tag on any missed time on the end to make up for this lost time, the students safety is more important" I say "Your right, there education is no good if there dead" he says "Are you and Lizzy safe here? Do you have a lot of vents?" I asked "We have a few why do you ask?" He asked "Because it's how people are disappearing, I've sealed all of the ones at my place off already I'd recommend doing the same here" I say before I heard a scream "Lizzy!" He says jumping up. We ran out of the room and into Lizzy's room to find a claw trying to drag her up into the vent, I swapped to my gun and fired a few rounds hitting the claw making it let her go, she dropped onto her bed she immediately ran over into her fathers arms "Are you okay!?" He asked "Shh!" I say trying to listen to see which way it went in the vents but to no avail "Listen come with me, you can stay at my place till I get this taken care of, it's safe there" I say, he nodded and I lead them out of there apartment weapons at the ready which slightly scared other workers "Get inside! Seal all the vents! Get to a room without a vent in it! It's how it's traveling!" I shouted the entire way to my place once we arrived we got inside to not to find Nori freaking out "There gone!" She says seeing me "What do you mean there gone!?" I asked panicked "Uzi, Doll there not here!" She says. I turned and rushed out of the apartment to try and find my daughters and it didn't take long when I heard an explosion go off, I flew to the noise and found some WDF looking in a destroyed room and Doll and Uzi there with disturbed looks on there faces, I ran over and grabbed the pair of them "Are you two alright!? Please say something!" I say holding them, I didn't get a verbal response but they wrapped there arms around me "Let's get home" I say picking them up, before we left I noticed N in the ceiling with an upset look. I knew this wasn't his doing so I didn't hold him accountable but I was going to question him, not a peep was said between us as we went home and once we got there and inside Nori marched over and grabbed Uzi from me "Nori" I say "What!" She snapped clearly frustrated with the pair "Don't, there already upset let's not make it worse" I say, she let out an exhale and nodded before taking Uzi to her room. I carried Doll to her and once we got inside I went to set her down on her bed but she wouldn't let me go so I sat down and held her "Are you okay?" I asked, but she only groaned "Pumpkin are you hurt?" I asked. I felt her shake her head no "Can you tell me what happened?" I asked but she shook her head again "Okay, you had us worried sick" I say, I heard her whine a little "Shhh no we're not mad, I was just worried about you two" I say, I let Doll go and set her on her bed "Get some rest pumpkin, I need to go talk to Nori" I say pulling the blanket over her and kissing her forehead. I left her room and went over to Uzi's where I could hear Nori being rather vocal with her, I walked in and saw Nori scolding her I went over and set my hand on Noris shoulder "Dear please she been through enough already" I say "But!" She says "Enough Nori, this isn't the time to do this" I say "Wait for me in our room, I'll be in shortly" I say. She got a frustrated look but listened and left the room, I looked at Uzi who was curled into a ball sitting on her bed, I walked over and sat on the edge of her bed "Come here princess" I say reaching over and pulled her into a hug "Moms mad" she says "I know she is, we were just worried about you. You gave us a scare" I say holding her "Dad what are you?" She asked "what do you mean?" I asked "The thing that was taking people, it was trying to rebuild J. Are you going to become a giant monster?" She asked "No, I'll always be me. Your father" I say "Okay" she says letting me go "I'll have a talk with your mother, see if we can get this settled" I say getting up "Okay and if N comes by can you make him leave?" She asked "Yeah, have a falling out with him?" I asked to which she groaned "Alright get some sleep" I say before I pulled the blanket cover her as well kissing her cheek.

I left her room with not to find Nori pacing around in the living room while Lizzy and her dad sat on the couch unsure of what to do "I think you two should be okay to go home, but I'd still postpone heading back to school for a few days" I say "Okay, thanks for sheltering us" he says getting up and leading Lizzy out of the apartment. Once the door closed Nori stopped her pacing and marched over to me "What are you doing! Do you know how worried I was!" She shouts "I know, I was to but getting mad at them right now won't help at all. There already disturbed as is, Doll wouldn't say a word and Uzi is concerned about me becoming some monster. She's also had a falling out with N. They've been through enough tonight" I say but she wasn't having it "They need to know!" She shouts "And they do Nori, it's over and done with. Uzi knows you upset with her" I say "And what about Doll!" She yells "I will handle it, she's a very different person to Uzi who was raised in this environment, Doll wasn't" I say "You had better!" She says before pushing past me and heading to our room slamming the door. I sighed before looking over at Dolls door to see her peaking out worried before it closed, I walked over to her room again and opened the door to find her curled up on her bed sniffing "She's going to rid of me" I heard her say. I got worried and walked over and grabbing her in a hug "No she isn't. She's just mad at what you and Uzi did" I say "But" she says "No Doll, your not going anywheres. She's not going to get rid of you" I say holding her tightly "Why was she so angry?" She asked "You and Uzi gave her a real scare when you two disappeared, she's just mad you made her worry so bad" I say "Should I go apologize?" She asked "Tomorrow once she's calmed down a little" I say "Okay" she says still uneasy, I tucked her back into bed again but this time hummed her a song till she was asleep, I got up and left the room heading back to my room and found Nori sitting on the bed reading something but once she heard me set the book down "How" was all she got out before I cut her off "She thought you'd get rid of her" I say, Nori seemed to be slightly upset at what I said "I talked to her and got her to sleep, I'm going to suggest you do the same" I say laying down "Am I a bad parent?" She asked making me sit up "What?" I asked confused "Am I a bad parent for making her think that?" She asked "No, just Doll is use to a different parenting method, Yeva and Yuri never raised there voices to her meanwhile we do when Uzi did something wrong" I say "You mean I did, you only ever raised your voice to get her to listen" she says "My point still stand, we have to use a different approach with Doll otherwise we will just hurt her more" I say "Should I apologize?" She asked "It might be a good idea, but don't do it in front of Uzi otherwise she might think we are playing favorites since you aren't apologizing to her for yelling" I say "Yeah that sounds good, and I'm sorry for getting mad at you. You've been running around to keep us all safe and I yelled at you. You were just as worried as I was" she says "This isn't the first time this has happened and it won't be the last dear, don't worry about it. I know you have a fiery temper when your worried or upset" I say pulling her into a hug laying back down again "And you've put up with me for all these years still" she says "Oh of course I have, we all have our ruff edges, I'm a bit protective of the girls and you" I say "I know and I'm grateful you are otherwise id be constantly worried and yelling" she says "And we can't have that, you look better when your calm" I say making her smile, she gave me a kiss before resting her head on the pillow "Goodnight sweetie" she says "Night dear" I say before closing my eyes and drifting off the sleep.
