Loraine's lifeless body was rushed to the castle's hospital. There, the doctors performed an autopsy on her corpse. I was the only one who came to the hospital for her. No one other than me. Not even her fiancee nor her father, The King.
The doctors said the spear had impaled her heart causing instant death. Due to the intense bleeding, her baby had died. As if it wasn't obvious enough.
Poor thing didn't even get to see the light of day before it was taken out of this world. It was heartbreaking to say the least. I felt sorry for the child, even though it was never meant to live, it still deserved a chance to prove itself in this cruel world.
I sat up, ready to leave the corpse behind in the doctor's care. Suddenly, someone called out to me.
"Princess Grace!" It was the doctor, screaming at the top of his lungs, trying to get my attention.
I slowly turned around to face him, still trying to get accustomed to my new identity. He ran up to me, then stopped a few inches away from my face, panting, almost out of breath.
"Princess....." The doctor sounded as if he was about to drop dead himself. "Princess....... the babies.......are still.....alive." The doctor said, forcing the air out of his mouth.
I stood there. In the hospital room. Frozen in shock. Did I hear that correctly? Babies? Plural?
Is this supposed to be some kind of cruel joke? The doctor finally looked up at me. His worried face met my disgusted expression. "W-Would you like to see for yourself, Princess?"
He said in a timid tone, as if he was scared of my response.
"Yes." I responded. I wanted to see for myself. To see if this information harboured truth. The doctor brought me to operating room. There, the surgeons were carefully removing the twin girls from their mother's womb.
After waiting for another hour or so, both baby girls were out. And alive. Their cries were deafening. Sounds of pain and sorrow. They were already aware of their lack of a mother.
A message was sent out to the Prince of Guston. Their father. His beautiful heirs were waiting on him, in the castle of the woman he betrayed. It would take about a week for the message to arrive at the Guston's castle and we couldn't just send the two newborns on a week long trip without a notice.
Believe me, I wanted to.
The girls would stay here, in Algoria, with the doctors to take care of them. Can you imagine? Taking care of the babies my ex fiancee brought into this world when he cheated on me with a non royal. My half of a sister, Loraine. It was a joke. A cruel joke.
About 2 weeks had passed. The Prince had just arrived in Algoria. Finally here to retrieve his belongings and leave for good.
He walked into the hospital room where his babies were. He looked at them closely. Then turned to look at me. I was standing at the hospital room door. I wanted to see his defeated face as he walked out with two lives he did not want.
He looked me straight in the face and said, "Those, are not mine." Then walked out without saying another word.
What in the world? What did he mean by these are not his? Who else could they belong to? They definitely weren't mine; so they won't be staying in my castle any longer.
I ran out of the room to find Theodore. What a low life. He did his deed yet did not want to reap his reward? Utterly disgusting.
I spotted him, leaving the hospital and walking out the grand, half opened gates. I had no choice but to run or I would not have had any chance of catching up to him, before the guards closed the gates. I ran after him and shouted his name. He turned around daintily to face me. As if he was the main character in a novel and time revolved around him.
