Eleanor's POV:

I'm trying not to vomit.

I'm in front of my pastor with Eden asking him these stupid fucking questions because I made her actually come in person.

But she won't stop glaring him down and he won't stop smirking at her. I feel sick.

"Okay! Um- next question... what do you do in your free time?" I ask. He looks at me.

"I read the Bible, put together my next sermon, and I play golf a lot too." He looks at Eden.

"How come I've never seen you in Sunday service?" He asks her.

I want to tell him to shut the fuck up. To stop talking to her. Only look at me. Only hurt me.

"I'm gay and I host a Devil worshiping club in my basement every Sunday," she spits. He laughs.

"We're all sinners. Come to church. Repent."

"I'll actually be gone next week," she says. "Not like I'd show up but." She laughs.

Eden, he thinks you're interested. Stop it. Stop it please.

"Last one! Do you enjoy being a pastor?" I ask. He looks at me.

"Absolutely. I get to meet lovely ladies like you," he says. Eden grabs the paper from me.

"And... sign here," she says, leaning into him. He makes eye contact with her.

And Eden... Sprays him in the face with pepper spray. She sprays him, and he falls back and claws at his eyes like his life depends on it.

"Oh, my gosh! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry, sir!" Eden fake apologizes.

"Let me- um- do you have milk? Ellie do you know if there's milk?"

"Yeah. I'll go get some," I say smiling. I walk away and go into the kitchen.

A girl is on the floor, sobbing quietly into her knees. She looks no older than ten.

I get on her level and sit across from her.

"Hey, honey. Are you okay?" I ask softly. She shakes her head without looking up at me. "My name's Ellie." She looks up at me.

"My name's Rachel," she says. Rachel has brown hair and big emerald green bug eyes that are laced with tears.

"What happened, Rachel? Why are you back here?" I stroke her hair back.

"Promise not to tell?" She whispers.

My stomach drops.

"Yes," I say. "I promise."

"Pastor made me show him my flower," she whispers. My stomach drops again.

He didn't do this to this angel. Oh, god.

"He did something. I don't know what," she says, voice breaking. "It really hurts. And I'm bleeding."

"He told me to run and hide when you two came in."

I pull her into my arms. She puts her little arms around my neck and sobs into my shoulder.

"I believe you, Rachel," I say, voice breaking.
"It's okay. Everything is going to be okay, Rachel." I rub her back.

"Ellie? Are you in-" Eden asks, coming in. She stops when she sees us. Her face softens, but fury fills her eyes.

"He took matters into his own hands. He's fine." She looks at Rachel, and then the puddle of blood on the floor. She looks at me. I nod.
