Eden's POV:
I lock eyes with my mom when we walk into the ER. She looks at Ellie and Rachel, then Jessica, then me.
"Come on." She brings us to a trauma room.
"Mom," I say softly. Jessica sits in a chair. Ellie and Rachel sit on the bed.
"Hi, honey. My name is Maria. What's your name?" She asks softly.
"Rachel."
"That's a pretty name for a pretty girl like you. Why are you here, Rachel?"
"I don't know," she says.
"Did somebody hurt you?" She asks. Rachel nods.
"Who hurt you, Rachel?""My pastor," she whispers. My mom nods like a pro, but her eyes say a thousand more words.
"So... we're going to do a kit on you that gets things like dna and proof that your pastor hurt you. So that if your parents decide to get him in trouble, there's proof that he hurt you."
"Okay," she says. "Can Ellie stay?"
"She absolutely can. Can I talk to Ellie really quick?" She nods. Ellie and her stand up and walk out.
Eleanor's POV:
Maria leads me into an on-call room as soon as we walk out of the trauma room. She sits me down on the bed and sits next to me.
"How are you? Are you okay?" She asks me. I shake my head.
"I don't know what to do," I whisper. She nods.
"I- don't know if I come out about my abuse or- I just- Eden's leaving and I-" I start to cry. "I keep having flashbacks!"
She pulls me into her arms.
"You know that you can always stay at my house. I accept you with open arms. I'm here for you every step of the way." She kisses my head.
"I just- she's just so little."
"You were so little too," she says softly. I look up at her. She wipes my tears.
"Do you have any proof?" I nod.
"I got a kit done before but I didn't press charges."
"Okay. And Rachel's going to get one done now. If her parents want to press charges then you can decide if you want to join them. Mkay?" I nod. She wipes my tears again.
"C'mon. Let's get back to your baby. I do have to call her parents because she's a minor and we can't start the kit yet." I nod.
"Okay," I say softly. We go back to the room. Eden is holding her hand.
"Hi baby," I say softly. I get behind her and hold her close again. She buries her head into my chest.
It feels like hours of terrible silence before her parents come in. I recognize them. They give to the church all of the time.
"Hi," I say softly. "She's asleep." Her mom wipes her tears and hugs me.
"Thank you, honey. I see you at the church all the time. You're such a sweetheart." She kisses my forehead and sniffles. Rachel wakes up.
"Hi, baby girl. Mommy's here. It's okay. It's okay you're gonna be okay!" I stand up.
"No, Ellie," she says.
"You're gonna get the kit done, baby. And then I'll be back, okay?" She nods. "I promise I'll be back." I hug her and then walk out.
My mother is in the waiting room with cops. And she's talking to them.
