It'd be an understatement to say that my mom loved her friends. She spoke to them daily at least for an hour before bed. And when they meet at family gatherings, they speak for hours like that's the first time they met after years. So, it goes without saying what happens when they meet after not seeing each other for more than a year.

Yes. It includes hugs, tears, and screaming.

Jules, Bridget, and Stella had come barreling through the door with their better half following them close when we entered.

While Mom and her friends went to a separate corner, hugging and crying, the men of the family came to greet us.

"Hey, dude" Josh slapped hands with Dad and then turned to us. "How is my little champs doing?" He grinned, shuffling my and Sophie's hair.

"We're not little," Sofia answered cooly, while I hugged him.

"Sure you are not, Chen princess" He hugged Sofia, dropping a kiss on her head.

I saw Dad talking with Christian, surely about some kind of business.

"How you doing, Mr.Larsen?" I asked him as I walked to him.

"I told you to stop calling me that." He huffed. He did. I started calling him that when I saw him blushing when Aunt Bridget called him that once. But it kinda stuck with me now.

"Now, where's the fun in that?" I smirked.

"I swear you're like Alex with Josh's brain." He muttered. And the said man came to us with Sofia.

"Uncle Rhys, how are you?" She asked as she hugged him.

"I'm good, champ. How are you doing?" He asked as he hugged her back.

"If all the greetings are done here, I believe we can go inside," Dad announced.

"Of course. Come on, guys." Bridget said as she steered us in. "Everyone's room is ready. You can freshen up and the dinner will be ready." She walked us in. "Nick and Sophie, if you want to know, the other kids are by the pool."
