In this gloomy October night, rain was pouring. Like reflecting the little girl's sorrow, indeed it was a special night, it was on her birthday night. But, that's not what had made that night so memorable. Because it was also the night she lost everything, which marked new beginning for the child.

"Vi... Violet please answer me don't— don't leave me alone !" The little girl was sobbing, endlessly shaking her sister's body, as if it would wake her up. Hoping it would eventually wake her up. So she went on and on, simply wishing for the body laying on the wet and cold floor to make any movements. Even the slightest. But the only movements were from her constant shaking, and deep down she knew it was too late, just by looking at her cloudy pupils losing its grey-blue light. She just didn't want to accept it. "You can't... leave me..." she muttered in a shaky breath as warm tears were rolling down her cheeks, contrasting with the cold water of the rain.

"This way sir !" on the edge of the alley, another voice spoke in a pant. At the same moment, a man ran by the alleyway, but his ears didn't miss the sound of the cries from the poor girl as he started walking back, confusion visible on his face. He caught a sight of the blue haired girl who was uncontrollably shaking , sitting before what looked like a corpse. "Sir—" the voice of the man earlier shouting  called the aforementionned Sir with much respect, as the latter shushed his assistant by simply raising a hand.

Hit by realisation the old man slowly moved in closer, eventually reaching the child before he kneeled down beside her. He delicately touched her shoulder with the tip of his fingers, as if  reluctant at any idea of scaring her. The little girl's cries stopped for a minute as she felt his touch, surprising him she suddenly started yelling pushing his hand away and crawling to move away from him.

"Who— who are you ?! L—leave me alone !" She screamed gasping for air. Her eyes were clenched close, as she rejected him. Too much was going on inside at the moment for her, but she was still counscious, so the moment she realised her words, she started violently shaking her head. Alone ? That's the last thing she wanted to be. "N—no don't leave me ! Please don't !" She gripped her hair, trying to erase all the horrible memories from tonight, and as he witnessed that, the older man slowly got to the girl giving her a hug.

Her sobbing and shaking still continued for a moment, but she eventually calmed down feeling more and more safe in these unknown arms. "P—please save m—my sister" she stuttered in a weak voice. The man closed his eyes, hating to have to tell her the harsh truth, maybe she knew it. But she was too young to accept it already. "Your sister... is resting now... I can do nothing for her..." he admitted despite himself, knowing well how tough this world was, and understanding her situation. He could do nothing but feel empathy for the kid. "But I will save you. Come with me little girl, what is your name ?" He stroked her hair at first while explaining in soft words, before he slightly pushed her to see her face.

He wiped the tears away as the girl looked at him, hesitant since her big sister taught her to never talk to unknowns, even less to tell her identity. "M—my name is Powder..." she hesitantly whispered, feeling a connection with the man, she felt like she could trust him. "Powder is it... I will take care of you now. You saw tonight how cruel the world is... let me protect you." He said. Powder innocently nodded, blindly trusting the man she believed only wanted her good because after all, he was right in her sense. She was scared of the world now.

He stood up taking the bluenette in his arms, carrying her to somewhere still unknown to her. They soon entered a fancy car, and once she was sat beside him and the car started driving, her eyes went to him, observing the man that had just saved her tonight. He was very skinny, he looked a little sick and wore glasses which made her think he was probably the smartest person. Finally gathering up courage, she squeezed her lip before speaking. "What is going to happen to my sister ?" She asked, her heart aching. As he answered her, he was still looking by the window.

"Your sister, you will never see her again." He sternly said making her gasp as she looked at him, tears threatening to fall again. "But I'll make sure she rest in a safe, and beautiful place." He added offering her a warm smile, his eyes turning to her. She tried to smile back, but failed. "And me ? Where are we going ?"

"We are going home." He added. "What is your name ?" She then curiously asked. "Call me father, Powder." She looked at him, lips parted as this night she realised her life was never going to be the same again.
