Last Test (Episode 49)

Samuel sat next to Jack, who was benching 120 pounds. He passed him a water bottle and said," Let's talk for a second."

Jack placed the weights down real quick and sat up. He grabbed his towel and wiped his sweat away. He then said while grabbing the water bottle," Alright, what's up.

Samuel crossed his arms and said," This last test. It's coming up in about 15 minutes."

Jack nodded and said," Yeah. I've been trying to pump myself up to get ready."

Samuel nodded and said," Yeah, that's fair. However, I know what the final test will be. It took a while to get this information from scattering through the internet. The final test will pin people against each other. Seeing as there's 28 of us, there will be 14 fights in total."

Jack nodded and said," Interesting. These matchups. Are they already decided?"

Samuel shrugged and said," I have no idea. However, you must be prepared just in case to fight one of your brothers."

Jack nodded and said," Yeah, I know."

He then looked at the others who were all talking to each other.
He sighed and said," It's too soon to just give up. We've made it this far. No chance in hell am I going to just give up and lose."

Samuel nodded and said," Good. It would suck for someone like you to not get accepted."

Miss Caroline then walked in and said," Get ready, kiddos. The final test is starting."

The 28 participants stood up and walked in front of her.
Miss Caroline smirked and said," Alright, kids. This next test will be the last thing that decides whether you get accepted or not. There are 28 of you in total. You will be paired against someone in a 1v1 in the big stadium to prove yourself. There will be 14 fights in total. After the fights have all ended, every participant will be called onto the field, and a teacher from the few here will decide whether or not they want you into their class. That will be the final decider."

The participants all nodded as Miss Caroline said," Now. Onto the stadium."

She led them through a tunnel in the gym that led into the stadium.

They then walked onto the big open stadium where a bunch of spectators waited while cheering and making a lot of noise.

Daniel, Sally, and Karin all watched from the stands up at the highest booth.

Jack smirked and said," Wow. That's a lot of people."

Carl shuttered and said," I'm really not a fan of all the people, to be honest."

Mark chuckled while scratching his head. He then said," Well, we got an audience."

Joey waved to the audience as Samuel put his earplugs in. Kelly smiled nervously, and Ali held a serious expression.

Miss Caroline then said," You take over, Mr. Drake. Since I'm one of the teachers choosing."

Mr. Drake stepped forward and said," Yup yup. Alright."

The announcer then said," WHAT'S UP LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! WELCOME TO THIS YEAR'S TRY OUT FIGHTING SPECIAL!!"

The crowd cheered as Mr. Drake looked annoyed.
He then said," Well, I suppose we can just get right into this. By announcing the first fight."

The first fight was now beginning. He led the participants to one spot in the stands where the participants wait for their turn to fight.

Mr. Drake then said," For the first fight. Samuel vs.... Joey!"

The announcer then said," Get ready for the first fight, yall! Super Slime Samuel vs. Joey of all trades is coming up."

Joey looked at Samuel with a nervous look and said," Damn. I... that's a shame, I mean. That we have to fight."

Samuel shrugged and said," It is what it. Let's just get this over with. Alright?"

Joey nodded and said," Yeah. Alright."

Joey walked down to the right side of the stadium as Samuel walked down to the left.

Jack squinted and said," Two of our friends are fighting each other. Who do you suppose will win?"

Kelly fidgted in her seat and said," My votes on Sammy!"

Mark smirked and said," My money's on Joey not gonna lie."

Ali and Carl both just stared at the incoming battle.

Joey shut his eyes tightly and thought about his meeting with Zachariah the day before.

Zachariah stood behind the glass wall and said while smiling," Even though I forced you to do all those bad things... I'm kinda glad it turned out the way it did, kid. I got arrested. I'm glad you only had to do probation for 5 months.
And now look at you... you got an invitation to become a hero. A fucking super hero."

Joey smiled and said," Yeah... but still. I'm thankful for that day. When you saved me from my abusive parents."

Zachariah shook his head and said," No. Don't dwell on that. You got bigger things to focus on now. I feel like a proud father or older brother. You better make me proud tomorrow, you hear me? Go be a hero. You told me that was your dream, remember?"

Joey nodded and said," Yeah. I remember. I'll try my best!"

Zachariah nodded with a smile. He then said," Go show the world that a bad guy can become a good guy."
