I return to my room and try to get some rest, but all I can think about is Pip. I know he would want to remember me. Is there any way I can get his memories back? I want the old Pip back... My Pip...

A few hours after I wake up, I find my Father doing his morning torture. His favorite part of the day is morning torture because he gets to walk down his hall of collected screams.

"Father!"

"Damien, hello."

"Hey, do you have a minute?"

"I'm a bit busy..." He gestures to a wall of tortured souls.

"I just want to know more information about battle angels."

"Why are you so interested in those puppets?"

"I'm just curious about where my food comes from."

"I see. Look in the castle library if you really want to learn more."

"Oh, of course! Okay, thank you!"

I run off to the library. A small demon with librarian glasses looks at me. "Master Damien. How may I be of service?"

"Hey, do we have any books on God's battle angels?"

"Yes. Dozens. What information are you looking for specifically?"

"Just general knowledge?"

"Very well, this one should be a good place to start."

He hands me a book. 'Battle Angel 101: everything you need to know about the fighters from above.'

"Thank you!"

I go off to a corner of the library where no one will find me. I like to sit in this corner when I read my BL stories. That's a secret though. Only Pip ever knew that I read those.

I open the book. The heat from a book is comforting. Down here, books are made of thin sheets of molten rock. The paper that humans use would just burn here.

Pip loved paper books. He said the smell of them made him feel cozy. He would read them while curled up in a quilt his mother made for him.

I need to stay focused... If I get into thinking about him, I might not stop for hours.

Table of contents:

1. What is a Battle Angel?

2. How do battle angels sustain Satan?

3. How are battle angels made?

4. How to defeat a battle angel.

I go to chapter two and skim through it. I learn that not only can we eat their souls, but their bodies as well. We can cook them up the same way humans cook animals. Their blood is sacred so drinking it can replenish power.

Skipping forward to chapter 3, the one I really wanted to know about. It says that to be a battle angel, the circumstances of your death have to match the following requirements: You must die from a supernatural being or a being from hell, you have a heroic death or die in an effort to keep someone else safe, and you had to have died a worshiper of god.

So Pip died in a pretty gruesome way, or at least I would assume that he did... I wonder what happened...

At the bottom of the chapter in small text, there's an additional section.

"In some rare cases, a battle angel may inherit the power from its fallen team, making it stronger, increasing its healing powers, and earning it a spot as one of gods personal weapons."
