Dip - Heaven in hell

Chapter 9

"Pip... I can't believe you're back..." I hold onto the bars of his cell.

"I'm not. I am not currently the 'Pip' you once knew."

"Oh... right..."

"But... I want to be. I want my memories back."

"You do? What about your duties? I thought that was all you cared about."

"It was, but something changed. I have all this power now and I feel like I could be doing better things than following someone else's orders."

"If you have all this power now, why aren't you fighting to get out of that cell?"

He shrugs. "I don't believe you are a danger to me."

For some reason, that made me upset. "Why not? I'm one of two people who truly has the ability to kill you."

"But you won't."

"Pip, you don't even remember me."

"I still trust you."

I'm getting more and more angry. He has always been a nice person. He always gives people the benefit of the doubt and trusts them too easily. He can't be doing that down here. This isn't the kind of place where trustable people live.

"You shouldn't trust me so easily."

"But you told me that we were lovers."

"And you're just going to believe that? Any demon could've said that to you. A lot of demons can control certain emotions. If a demon of lust came in here and told you that you used to sleep together all the time, would you believe him?"

"You're getting worked up. Shouldn't you be happy that I trust you? Isn't this what you wish of me?"

I feel my eyebrow twitch. He doesn't get it.

I open his cell and step in. His wrists and ankles have chains around them. I hate the way he looks in chains.

"You're too vulnerable right now to be in a position to trust me."

I lean over him and hold his wrist chains, lifting his arms above his head.

"Pip, I could do anything right now and you wouldn't be able to stop me."

"But you won't."

I need him to understand that he needs to be more careful but I can't go any further than this.

"Damn it..." I use my power to shatter the chains around his wrists.

He rubs where the chains used to be on his arms. "Why did you break them?"

"They looked uncomfortable." I sit on the floor in the opposite corner of his cell.

"Are you not afraid? I can use my power now to hurt you if I wanted."

I smile at him. "Yeah, but you won't."
