Dip - Heaven in hell

Chapter 27

"A plan?" Pip scoots over so I can sit next to him.

"Yeah. I have this big library in my palace, we could get in undetected and find some good books to bring back here."

"If it's a big place, how will we find what we are looking for?"

"I'm friends with the librarian, he can help us."

"Are you sure he won't rat us out?"

"I'm sure. He always minds his own business. He didn't tell my dad about the kinds of books I read or that I would sneak out to hide in the library. Cool guy."

"Okay... Let's do it! If we work together we can do anything."

I put my head on his shoulder to hide my face, it has to be red right about now. "That's so cute..."

He tilts his head so it's resting on mine. "Yes, I suppose you bring out my cute side."

I laugh. I need to get my happy ending with him as soon as possible. 

"Let's do this, yeah?" 

I take his hand and he squeezes mine back. We give each other a nod before I open a portal to my corner of the library.

We step through and Pip looks around. "God, I forgot how hot it is here."

"Hot as hell?"

"Oh. Yeah."

"Let's get to work."

I peek around the corner. "All clear..."

The librarian is still sitting in his usual spot. I don't think he ever leaves that spot.

"Hey." I approach him with Pip close behind me.

"Dark Prince? Where have you been?"

I look behind me at Pip. "I've been... busy." 

"I can tell. Are you here to stay?"

"No, just here for some books. I need more stuff on battle angels, anything on how to disguise them as human maybe?"

He raises an eyebrow. "Sure..."

The bookshelves move around him and he pulls a few books off the shelves. He hands me 4 books on battle angels.

I give him a friendly smile. "Thank you, seriously." 

"No problem..." He hesitates. 

"Is something wrong?"

"That friend of yours... he looks familiar."

"Does he?"

I turn to Pip but he just shrugs.

The librarian moves the bookshelves some more and pulls out one last book. "Take this as well..."

"What is it?"

I flip the book around and read the cover. "The demon king's creations?"

He nods. "There is some interesting stuff in there."

"Okay... thanks. we are gonna head out. I appreciate all this."

He nods. I take Pip with me back to earth. We sit down at his round coffee table and start looking through the books. I skim the table of contents of each one, looking for anything that could help.

Pip picks up the 5th book that the librarian gave us. "Why did he give you this one?"

"I'm not sure, but he seemed off. Maybe there's something in there that could help us?"

"I'll take a look."

I continue to read. The second book has some stuff on magic spells I could use but it's hard to retain any of the information, it's all so complicated.

I hear a book drop. I look up and see Pip stumble backward with his hand over his mouth. 

"Pip? What's wrong?"

He doesn't respond, he just looks at the book on the floor.

I take a look at the page he was on, it's a chapter on one of my dad's creations. A mecha version of Barbra Streisand. Mecha-Streisand.
