Finally being out of Beacon Hills was like a breath of fresh air for Charlie Stilinski; well as fresh as New York will allow. It was a bit intimidating to be going off to college across the country alone but she was determined to make the most of it.

Walking around her new college campus, the cool fall weather was in the air. Different signs and banners saying 'Welcome to the New '06 School Year!' Currently, Charlie was reading over a flier for student government when her shoulder collided with someone.

"Oh my gosh." Charlie says in a soft surprise as she looks at the boy she had just ran into. "I'm so sorry."

The boy looks at her in equal surprise, "No, it was my fault. I'm sorry." he rushes out to her.

Charlie lets out a small laugh in relief that he wasn't completely pissed at her. "No, it's mine. I wasn't looking where I was walking." she explains holding up the flyers.

"Looks like we both were doing the same thing." he says with a soft smirk, holding up his own flyer for a different club. "Student government?" he questions.

Her face softly flushes as she looks back down at the flyer then at the boy, "Uh, yeah. I used to be Student Body President in High School and figured this would be familiar territory... It sounds so lame out loud." she jokes hoping to ease her embarressment.

He shakes his head, "No, not lame. Boring? Maybe. But not lame." he jokes right back with a smile easing her emotion.

Charlie looks at his flyer and cracks a smile, "Car Club?"

"Yeah, a little more exciting than government." he shrugs.

"Fair enough. I'm Charlie by the way." she says, holding her hand out.

"Derek." he replies, shaking her hand.

Charlie stared at him for a moment, "This is going to sound stupid but you look familiar."

Derek stares at her, confused. "Are you from here?" he asks.

She shakes her head, "No. Cross the country actually."

"Well I'm not from New York. Moved here a few years back." Derek shrugs as he looks around them at the students talking at different club booths.

"Where did you move from?" Charlie asks, her curiosity getting to her.

"Beacon Hills. It's in California." Derek explains before looking back at her.

Charlie's eyes light up in recognition. "Holy Shit. No way, me too."

Derek looks surprised again, "Really?" he questions.

"Yeah. Charlotte Stilinski, my dads the Sheriff." She explains a bit.

His eyes look at her with better recognition, "Oh yeah, sophomore year you beat out that senior for president. Woah, small world." he says, his face regaining the soft smirk from earlier.

She laughs lightly at that memory, "Yeah. Too bad that whole year the teachers didn't trust me to write my own speeches for pep rallies. They really made me read the worst things."

Derek laughs as well, "God, yeah. Those speeches were rough."

"Tell me about it. I think the worst one I had to read was during a basketball championship. I felt like I put the whole team to sleep." she says with a sigh.

"Nah, not the whole team. I was awake, though it was a struggle." he teases her.

Charlie looks at him confused before something clicked, "Derek Hale, oh my, I'm an idiot. Didn't realize till just now." she pauses seeing him look down as she saya his name. "Were my speeches really that bad?" she continues, moving past it.
