Throughout the years of knowing Derek, Charlie had visited Peter on behalf of the Hale's in New York whenever she would visit family for the holidays. So she was no stranger to the rude nurse or the strict visiting times. Lucky for her, she learned how to get a pass for visiting Peter Hale by bringing the nurse her famous cookies.

"Hey Peter, sorry it's been a long time since I last came to visit." She greets the man, who was sitting facing the window early in the morning.

"I brought Jennifer some cookies so I have some time to chat with you." Charlie tells him softly, as she takes a seat across from him.

"Derek told me he came to visit you. I doubt he told you about anything that's going on, he can be an idiot sometimes." she jokes, looking out the window herself.

She sighs thinking about everything, "There's an alpha somewhere here in town. And there are hunters. Derek almost died from the latter, scared me half to death." she says with a breathless laugh. "I'm so on edge now. First I was worried about Laura, and now..." she puts her head in her hands.

Everything feels like it's spirallying quickly. "I hope you're safe here." she says looking over at him. "If they come for you, I'll hunt the hunters. I will make sure they regret it." She half jokes, giving Peter a smile.

If Peter could smile at her, he would. Grateful that she cares for him and his family so much. And amused that she thinks she needs to protect him from those damn hunters.

"So why are you working out here? Normal people go to a gym or a park you know." Charlie brings up to her boyfriend as the two of them were working out in the empty Hale House.

"Because I can hear better in case something tries to sneak up on us." He says between doing pull ups on a door frame, shirtless. "It's big, you can hide if need be." he continues as he goes back down, glancing over at her spot on the floor. "And I like having you all to myself." he admits with a smirk.

Charlie pauses mid sit up, catching his stare. "You sir, are a softy." she teases.

"Only for you." He flirts with her, making her smile.

"Oh yeah?" She says getting up from the ground, making her way over to him.

He raises an eyebrow, and drops back to the floor, "Yeah." he confirms, the smirk never leaving his face.

"Only me?" she asks, taking a step closer to him.

He nods as he takes a step closer, "Only you."

"Good." Charlie whispers, moving to lean in for a kiss. Derek does the same but turns his head in alarm. "What is it?" she questions moving back seeing the alarm in his eyes.

"Shit." Derek whispers, before grabbing Charlie's hand and leading her quietly to another room away from the front door. He has her pressed against a wall with him covering her as they wait and listen to the front door opening.

"Oh, he's here--he's just not feeling particularly hospitable." A woman's voice rings out louder than to whoever she was talking to.

Derek scowls at the voice, "Kate." he huffs in annoyance, making Charlie's eyes widen.

"Maybe he's out burying a bone in the backyard." A man says with a chuckle, making the couple roll their eyes.

"Really? A dog joke? We're going there, and that's the best you got? If you wanna provoke him, say something like, 'Too bad your sister 'bit it' before she had her first litter.'" Kate's voice carries louder throughout the house. Charlie glares at the doorway going to take a step to fight the huntress herself for talking about Laura but Derek stops her, placing his hand over her mouth to keep her from lashing out despite his own anger rising. "'Too bad she howled like a bitch when we cut her in half!'" The huntress taunts again louder, causing Derek to snap.
