Both [name] and Madelyn sat on her bed, hands clutched in each others as they had a serious conversation. One they had both been putting off but it needed to be done.
"We can't be together and move forward in our careers." He said, squeezing her hand tightly. "You've said no to opportunities because it would keep you away from me for too long and I've done the same. We can't keep doing this."
"I know." She whimpered, looking down. This was the right thing to do. "But that doesn't mean we'll never see each other again."
"Of course not." He shook his head. "We will see each other again."
"We'll find out way back to each other?"
"Yeah, we will." He leaned over and softly kissed her cheek. She turned her head and connected their lips. This was the last kiss they would be having in a very long time and she wanted to savour it.
