Chapter Seven

Cece got into her car and looked up where the movie was being shown. She followed the GPS on her phone and parked on the street. She saw Rafe's car and contemplated asking him where Sarah was. Sarah didn't answer any of her calls or texts the whole day. She didn't know if it was because of the kiss or something else. She walked toward the big screen and dug into her pocket to grab the cash, so she could buy a pop or food. She approaches the stand and sees Topper, "Sarah's not with you?"

His question throws her off, "She's supposed to be with me?"

Rafe laughs and mutters into Topper's ear, "The lying begins."

"Did she say she was with me? Because I've been trying to get a hold of her all day," Cece pays for a can of coke.

Topper shakes his head, "Nah, I just assumed she was with you."

Cece opened her can and took a sip, "How's your boat?"

Kelce and Rafe snickered and Topper's face fell flat, "What do you know?"

"Just what my mom told me."

"So you think it's my fault?"

"I wouldn't put it past you," Cece pauses, "but I feel like there's more to the story."

"Yeah, there is." Rafe steps in, "We roughed up Pope, then him and JJ sunk your cousin's boat."

Cece scoffs, "So you're stupid enough to beat someone up and not expect consequences?"

Kelce chimes in, "Yeah, maybe consequences like them trying to beat us up or something, but sinking his goddamn boat! That's fucking crazy!"

Cece laughs, shaking her head. "I'm not trying to get in the middle of this, I'm going to watch the movie." She turns around to and sees Kiara, JJ, and Pope sitting down. She turns back to the boy, "Don't try anything, there are kids."

Cece is concentrated on the movie, trying not to think about Sarah. She hears whispers behind her and turns her head to see Topper, Rafe, and Kelce walk off. Cece rolls her eyes and stands up, "Shit." She tries to slowly follow them, without alerting them. Five feet away from her she sees Kiara. Cece clears her throat and whispers, "Kiara! Kiara!"

Kiara whips her head in the direction of Cece and walks towards her, voice remaining a whisper, "What are you doing here?"

"Trying to save two pogue lives, you?"

Kiara nods annoyingly. "What are you going to do?"

"If I have to... anything." Cece and Kiara watch as the two groups of boys talk. Kiara starts going through her backpack. Cece walks away from Kiara after the first punch was thrown. Since everything was dark she couldn't tell who was who. She saw Pope getting attacked by two: Rafe and Topper. She jumped on top of Rafe, "Get away from him!"

Rafe steps away from Pope and Cece gets off, "Stay away Cierra."

Topper yells from far way, "Let us handle this, C!"

Kiara runs up the the boys and tries to stop Kelce, "Handle what?!"

Rafe picks up Kiara and throws her on the ground, "Stay down!"

Pope gains the upper hand and starts hitting Topper. "Pope, you're hurting him!" Cece yells trying to get to Topper, but JJ pulls her away.

"Don't get in the middle of this," he whispers at her.

Rafe punches JJ, causing him to stumble back, knocking Cece to the ground, "Stay away from her, Maybank!"

Kiara pulls Cece away from the boys, "Here help me!" Kiara pulls out two lighters. Cece understands and moves to the other side of the screen trying to light it on fire. The screen catches and starts chaos. The people watching the movie starting screaming and the fight stops. Cece stands up watching JJ and Pope run to Kiara, then leave the scene.

"Come on Cierra!" Rafe grabs her hand and runs to his car. Topper and Kelce get in to the back of the car, Cece in the passenger seat, as Rafe starts to drive.

Nobody spoke until Cece remembered she drove ther, "My car. My car is still there."

"You can get it tomorrow," Topper says from the back.

Cece ignores Topper and looks over at Rafe, "I need my car, my mom will kill me if I don't bring my car home."

Rafe sighs and slows the car, Kelce and Topper scoff, "Come on dude! Really?!"

Rafe turns the car around and stops at Cece's car, "Thank you." She unbuckles her self and gets out of the car. Before closing the door she looks at the three boys, "You guys were stupid as shit today." Cece walks to her vehicle, the sound of Rafe's car leaving gives her relief. She gets into her car and drives about three blocks and finds the the pogue's van. She sees the three still in there and rolls down the window. "Where's John B?" her tone accusatory. She sees them shrug, "Just so you know, I haven't been able to get a hold of Sarah all day."
