Both mobians stared at each other, Gadget was right, Infinite was indeed the jackal he knew, Barry got out of his room to see what was going on, and he immediately got shocked by the scene. Gadget was holding Infinite on his arms with his hands covered in blood.
Barry: W-What happened?!
Gadget: Look, I can explain. Right now, I need your help!
Barry: B-B-But he's Infinite!
Gadget: JUST HELP ME OUT!
Barry jumped the mattress to reach the front door. He got Infinite's left arm and started to carry him with Gadget to one of his rooms. They laid him down on the bed. Gadget runs to the bathroom to grab a medkit, he was stopped by Barry on the way back to the room.
Gadget: Barry, please, let me pass.
Barry: Not until you give me a good reason!
Gadget: Barry, I promise that I will explain everything later, ok? Now let me do my job.
Gadget, while opening the kit, noticed that the last piece of the Phantom Crystal was glowing. The fur of Infinite was starting to regenerate, and the shard started to disappear. The jackal started to wake up, his vision was still a blur, "Where am I?" he thought. He didn't wanted to survive, but he wouldn't forgive himself if he didn't talk with Gadget.
Gadget: Zero? Are you alright?
Infinite was full awake now, he remember everything, he saw the wolf, recognizing him from his dream, until he noticed something, it was Gadget, the one know as the "Hero of the Resistance".
Infinite: You... again?
Gadget: You s-still remember me, right? right?!
Gadget was crying. He was finally united with his friend. Infinite extends his hand on Gadget's cheek. A million thoughts passed in Infinite's about the mobian in front of him, the first time he fought him on Sunset City, on Mystical Jungle, on Megatropolis and on the Egg Fortress.
Infinite: Gadget... why?
Gadget: Don't you remember our promise? When you accepted me on the squad?
Infinite: Squad... the squad... my squad...
Infinite was sobbing, he put his legs closer to his head and started to cry a lot. Gadget tries to comfort him with a hug, but it is denied by the jackal, telling him to stay away. During the war, Gadget tried to contact the Jackal Squad but no one answered.
Gadget: Calm down, the war is over, you are free now Zero!
Infinite: DON'T YOU DARE TO CALL ME BY THAT NAME AGAIN!
Gadget falls scared by what he heard. It was the same thing Zero said back in that day on Sunset City. Barry was outside of the room watching everything. He was stunned. He wanted to help Gadget, but he didn't have an idea of what exactly was going on.
Gadget: What is your problem?
Infinite: ...
Gadget: I been looking for you during this 2 months when I left, and during the war I almost died plenty of times because of you, and now that I've helped you to get out of that hole, is this how you are grateful?!
Infinite looked down to the bed, disgusted, trying to hide his shame. Gadget has recovered his position, and he was very... angry? Stressed? Disappointed?
Infinite: ... I'm sorry, Gadget.
Gadget hugs Infinite. After all this time, Infinite couldn't believe that his friend never gave up on him. After killing, scaring and destroying everyting on Mobius, the wolf will forgive him?
