(Flashback)
Gadget woke up from the last encounter. His lag was with a bandage, he could see that he was tied up in a chair where the only thing that was illuminating the room was a lamp right above him. He saw a window, it was a bit far from him but he could see it was raining. A thunderstorm allowed the wolf to see a bit of the room, he saw that he was surrounded by mobians, jackals more precisely.
Trois: You finally awake.
Gadget: What I can do for you so you all can let me go?
Trois: Right to the point, huh? We want you to open the box.
The jackal appeared from the darkness right in front of Gadget. It was the same woman who knocked him out in that alley. If Gadget was going to suffer, he would do with a smile.
Gadget: Oh my, a bunch of thieves can't open a simple box?
Of course, someone didn't like his joke. Gadget was hit so hard on his face by someone next to him that the chair almost falls, but another jackal holds it.
Duex: Stop with your games, kid! You are carrying something very rare, so open that box or-
Gadget: Or what? Are you gonna do a scandal?
Some of the jackals laughs making Duex was furious, he closes his fist so hard that anyone could hear it cracking. Gadget was about to get hit again on the face.
???: Enough!
The jackals looked to other mobian, Gadget couldn't see him, it was dark, until a thunderstorm started, during the lighting, Gadget could see him, another Jackal, this time, he had long hair, and was holding an sword.
???: It's clear that the wolf won't collaborate.
Duex: But sir-
???: I'll take it from here. Everyone, leave, now!
Trois and Duex changed looks, and they glance at Gadget. It seems, by their looks, the wolf will... suffer? "Oh no, this guy will torture me? For over a simple gem?!" he thought. Gadget saw each jackal leaving with a smirk on their faces, well, most of them. The silence has dominated the room until the jackal spoke.
???: Now... do you have any idea of what you just have done?
Gadget: Besides defending what is rightfully mine, I made someone a bit pissed. What's so wrong with that?
???: You have the courage uh? Nothing is wrong in defending something or someone , actually that is something good, nowadays, people always run away without their belongs.
Gadget: Not everyone have unlocked their spirit.
???: Yeah, but enough talking.
The jackal got up from his seat and started to walk to Gadget. Gadget looked up to see the person who was standing in front of him. Another lighting, revealing his face, his eyes were... I forgot the damn name, but you know? His left eye was yellow, and the other was blue, there is a name for those kinds of eyes. And for the first time on his life, Gadget started to feel something, but he didn't know what it was.
Zero: My name is Zero the Jackal, and I'm known as the Ultimate Mercenary.
Gadget: Nice to meet you, Mr. Ultimate, but I can't say the same for your... friends? Family?
Zero: Jackal Squad, that's the name of our band.
Gadget: Ok... ok, now could you let me go?
Zero: I will. If you unlock that box.
