Chapter 20

Nanami went inside the building back to his stern look. Never he would thought he would miss her already as he walked through the corridors seeing his co worker he paid no mind to them

"Hey Nanami is the hot chick that dropped you off your girlfriend?" one of his co worker asked some looked at his direction

"Yes and please don't speak inappropriately of her" Nanami said as he gave the man a glare that could pierce through his skin

"Yeah sorry" the man apologised as he continue working

Nanami noticed it was already lunchtime. He wasn't done with his paperwork yet so he decided not to eat lunch for now

Then suddenly he heard his phone ring and saw her name plastered at the caller ID. He immediately picked it up missing her voice

'Hello darling are you eating properly?' her voice cooed over the office. To be honest he didn't care.

"I haven't eaten yet" He said as he sighed

'Darling you should eat, you need energy to continue work!' she spoke in panic

"Don't worry I'll eat lunch after this" he said as he looked at his computer

'No shut up I know you would forget eating that's why I called in the first place'

"All right I'm going to get lunch now so don't worry" he said while he left his seat and made his was to a nearby bakery

'Oki I have work to do!! I'm gonna hang up! I love you!!' he heard but he simply chuckled

"I love you too I hope you have a great day" Nanami said with a smile but in the end of the line he hears a scream

'I already did it because of you!' as she ended the call

Some of the coworkers were surprised. Seeing Nanami with a new nature. They know him as a grumpy workaholic worker with a sprinkle of hotness. All girls swoon over him to the point they wore shorter skirts and unbutton their shirts when they are near Nanami's radius

Nanami simply sighed that the bakery he used to go was currently closed for vacation

So he went back to the company as he walked to the cafeteria. He never liked the food that's served there wasn't to his liking but he has no choice

He bought his lunch as he sat quietly eating lunch. He ignored the stares from some co workers as he looked at the watch suddenly remembered the day he received the gift

He was still a first year

A young Nanami passed through the hallways hearing bickering then suddenly she showed up

"I thought there is class?" he asked but his arm was grabbed by her pulling him away the classroom

"Class is canceled, let's train," she said as he looked at her bubblegum hair. He always thinks she looks like a cherry blossom in full bloom.

He love the way cherry blossom falls perfectly in his hair or so does he thought but found out it was only haibara putting the flower without him noticing

"Teach me close combat" she said with dedication on her face. They practised for a while. Something young Nanami learned was she sucks at hand to hand combat

"This is unfair!" She whined why do I keep falling down

"Don't worry you'll get stronger by the day if you practise" he said to encourage her

"I've been practising everyday and I  keep on messing up. I'm wasting all my cursed energy. I have no talent for this" she said as she hugged her knees looking at the ground

"I think you do you just need inspiration and perseverance" he simply replied as he sat beside her

"Why did you become a sorcerer?"

"For the extra money I guess" Nanami knew it was a lie as he grew older he knew the reason. It was her, everything he did was for her. He went for money but continued for her

The two stayed there in silence

"I kinda miss my brother" she said as Nanami stared at her

"Do you have siblings?" she asked as she tilted her head

"No I'm an only child" he responded as he admired her delicate features

"Well that's surprising" she chuckled as she sighed afterwards

"You should visit him"

"He ran away"

"Oh"

....

"This is getting awkward," she said as she stood up and dusted her skirt. She stretched her arm towards him. He reached it helping him stand up

"Let's go back I'm kinda feeling chilly" she said as he held his arm rushing him to go back

When they were at the corridor Nanami stopped

"Is something wrong?" she asked Nanami scratched the back of his head

"I have something to tell you... I really li-" They were interrupted with a loud bang coming from the door as Gojo appeared and threw confetti on his face

Geto placed a hat on his head

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANAMI!!"

"Wait it's today??" he asked looking confused

"YES! And here is your gift!" Yu said giving him the present

Everyone then crowded around giving him gifts, especially Gojo being extravagant and giving the boy a paper cut out of him. While Geto gave him a handkerchief and  giving a pack of cigarette and lighter

"Here is my gift" Emiko gave him a box and he opened it as a watch. He smiled

"Thank you guys"

"Oh Em Gee!! Is Nanami smiling!! Our little emo is now smiling!! We nailed it guys! I'm the best!" Gojo said dramatically

"Shut up he likes my gift more" Shoko bickered

"Who gives a 15 year old boy a pack of cigarettes" Geto said with a judgemental look

"I do and it's good for him" Shoko said while rolling her eyes

"I thought you heal people?" Yu asked

"Isn't death a great medicine" Emiko stated as she got a firm nod from Geto

"I agree with that"

Nanami simply stared at his friends and simply sighed and enjoyed the moment

Nanami decided to leave work early when he got home he was greeted by a woman sleeping on the couch. He stared at her figure

"she looks tired"

"Welcome back!" I said noticing his presence then gave him a kiss on the cheek

"Did I wake you up?" he asked but she shook her head

"How was your day?" Nanami asked

"I talked with Gojo this morning nothing important"

"Oh is that so?"

I was greeted with Gojo standing on the corner and urged for me to sit down on a nearby chair. He look serious at some point

"Is there something you want to talk about?" I heard him gave a big sigh

"I killed your brother"
