One day, he came home with a woman that held onto two children, one was a girl (Loretta) and the other was a boy (Lorel) and was heavily pregnant for the third one,

I was dumbstruck when I saw them. He told me "This is my new wife and children, and you are the new maid"

I cried myself to sleep every day since he said that,

trying to make myself believe that it was not true but yet they turned me into a slave in my own husband's house just then,

I remembered that we weren't officially married yet, just engaged and my sorrows doubled.

One day, Idris and his wife told me that they were travelling and that they were living their two children in my care for a week,

the next day, they travelled, I was taking care of the children by myself and I was doing very well, until one day I heated water for Lorel to bathe,

I poured the water in a bucket in the bathroom and went back to the kitchen to drop the kettle when I heard a sharp scream coming from the bathroom,

I rushed there only to see Lorel's hand red and peeling.

I knew that I was done for by the time I saw it because there was no way it was going to heal before Friday and even if it did, it would leave a scar,

anyways, I rushed him to the hospital and got him some treatment,

we slept in the hospital till the next day, when we got back home was when the drama begun, Idris and his wife were back earlier,

the neighbors had briefed them about what had happened.

Immediately they saw his hand, they pounced on me and almost killed me, then he threw me out of the house at the earlier hours of the day and was kind enough to put me in a taxi,

paid the driver and told him that he should carry me anywhere of my choice,

I didn't stress the driver as I told him that he should drop me at the tenth pole from my house and gladly the driver did,

and that was where You came to meet me standing under the tree".

Boma was shaken to his bones as he tried to digest the entire story, it seemed like he himself wasn't ready for that kind of a story,

then he heard sobs coming from Joan, he immediately turned and started consoling her, when she was done crying he told her that everything is going to be alright,

then he asked her if she would stay at his house,

he told her that his house would be more comfortable until she wanted to leave and that he didn't have enough money to pay for the entire amount of time she would have stayed in the hotel so after much thought,

Joan decided to go with Boma as she thought that if she was able to open up to him within few hours, how couldn't she trust him to follow him home...
