Joan paused and stood up to get water and a drink for them, after which she sat down and sipped a little water and continued...

"Grandma was so proud of me because even our neighbors wanted to have me as their daughter,

I was always the child used to correct other children, I did very well at and school and I got praised each time I topped my class and grandma would always praise me and give me more encouragement and grandma always made it her duty to cook my favorite food when I make her happy.

One particular day, I came back from school and met my house flooded with visitors, confused I went in to see what was happening,

all my uncles were around and they all looked gloomy, when they saw my they tried to act as if everything was alright but I had already seen their expression,

I went to kneel at grandma's feet asked what's wrong, she told me that it was her arthritis again but I didn't believe,

just when I was about to stand up, a woman that I knew very well ran inside wailing and shouting.

The next thing she said was like a bombshell

"I can't believe she is dead", when she said that,

I knew she only meant one thing,

my mum was gone.

Immediately I heard that, I shouted and fainted on the floor, when I opened my eyes, I was in a hospital, then I remembered what happened.

I screamed and cried till the walls echoed, then the doctors rushed in, followed by my relatives, when I had calmed down,

I turned to my side to find my grandma sitting there then I asked her if was true, that my mother was gone, with tears in her eyes she told me that she was sorry.

I sat on the bed, crying my eyes out if it would ease my pain but No, I could still feel the agony of being motherless.

"Two days later, I was discharged from the hospital to go home with my grandma. Life didn't go all that smooth after that,

a week later I heard grandma scream from the bathroom, I ran there only to find her on the floor naked,

I rushed to get her phone to call and one of my uncles and he picked the call and rushed down as fast as he could,

I helped to put her in the car and we rushed to hospital where she was admitted immediately. Grandma was revived and we were all glad but the doctor had some terrible news that hit all of us like a blow,

Grandma had stroke, she worried too much after my mother had died.

A while later I was allowed to go in and see my grandma, grandma gave a weak smile when she saw me, she told me to come sit beside her,

she raised her hands as she touched my face telling me that I look so much like my mother...
